L-4 - Does anyone have drawings for a L-4 1/4 scale? I am thinking of making an L-4 out of my new BUSA J3 Kit I just received.

I just need the top view - fuselage. Will pay for it and postage.

Thanks

Keith

I got to let her hands get a little bigger before she will be on the sim. LOL Cool looking engine. Guys i'm looking for someone that has a set of robart 1/3 scale gear in the box or unmounted. Need to get some photos and measurements for my 1/3 scale super cub plans.

Cubs fly so good that even if the dummy engine burns a valve on the front cylinder for being too cold (lean) it'll still fly! I just need to put seats inside, install a pilot and fly. The O.S. 40 four stroke engine has been run and it runs like a champ!

Excellent job, I like those spark plugs.

This may help CubMan... it's the dimensional drawings from Robart's site in pdf format.

I see, so those measurements you need aren't shown on the drawings... what specific measurements are you looking for?... I'll keep an eye out and if I see a 1/3 scale gear set I grab some measurements for you.

The main part I need measurement is the V brace between the mounts. i need the distance from center of the hole to the center of the other hole. My scale super cub fuse is coming in a little narrower then the balsa usa cub.

Ok, I know what you need... I'll be going down to our LHS this week, I'll ask if they have one in stock and take the measurement... if they don't have it, then you may try emailing Robart and ask them for that measurement... I asked them a few questions regarding their 1/4 scale gear and they were very willing to help, and replied promptly... I will also keep an eye out at our club, we do have a couple third scale cubs that show up on a regular bases; I'll keep my slide rule /calipers handy.

Ok, here's what I got off a set out of the box... He let me assemble the parts I needed to get the measurements... its as accurate as I can get, not compensating for any slop in the holes... maybe + - 1/32"

***EDIT***

Look at the file names closely, they describe the point to point where the measurement was taken.

Hello my name is Robin and I was curious how one requests membership in the Cub Brotherhood?

I started flying with a HZ Mini Super Cub, went to the MPX Fun Cub x 2 (I realize those probably don't count)! I also have a Goldberg J-3, and Great Planes J-3 (being modified to a Super Cub) in various stages of construction. Awhile back I acquired the OLD (100") Hangar 9 1/4 scale Super Cub that I'm currently working on. It had never been assembled and I planned on just changing the paint scheme and putting her together with some minor mods (Robart Gear and 200mm Airtops). After hours of stripping & cleaning off the old trim I discovered that the upper left longeron was severely warped and decided it needed to be addressed (along with the tail feathers) so I now have the fuselage covering removed! Progress has been slow but it's moving along, I have a Saito 150 for her (unless I can figure out a way to get my hands on a VVRC 40) and I've already had Callie Graphics make up a set of markings for the Alaska State Troopers Super Cub I'm modeling. Since I have photos of this aircraft on both wheels and floats (I also live on a lake) I also plan on a set of seaplane supply foam floats (glassed and detailed) mounted with the float strut set from the current hangar 9 offering.

Now to catch up on this thread.

Thanks! ~ Robin

Definitely get a set of his scale aileron plans.

From the sounds of it Leroy, when you're finished with your project, we all will be envious of the results...

I may join this group but I have to start the Balsa 1/4 scale J 3 Cub into the wide body Super Cub first. I have the kit and cowl and gear, engine and misc is on the way. Hope to get started mid month, have another photo session saturday with a real one. This is not an easy one to scale out and thats what I hope to do.

lol, well now, I finally make sense to someone... it scares me too mnem, because I'm either getting sharper, or you're on the decline... the part that scares me mnem is, I'm nearly 64, so I know I'm not getting any sharper.

I have a new wing kit here now... so I pulled the center section pieces out and started building that up... I'm using the old wings, so I cut the center section off the left wing panel and stripped the top sheeting off both wing halves in readiness to make the necessary changes to make the left wing panel, like the right one is now... and then come up with a better way to attach the wing halves to the new center section... I'm going to use the plywood brace instead of a wing tube, it just works better for this Sig cub; better in the finished appearance in the area of the cabin wires and forward window stays.

BTW... a wing kit was the easiest way to get all the necessary bits a pieces... our LHS carries about 3 pieces of balsa that dates back to the early 70's, and by the time I order everything to make the changes, I might as well just get the wing kit and be done with it.

I thought you already joined?

Yes, the 1/4 scale Cub is a bit more difficult to do to near exact scale, but it can be done with some fudging here and there... the 1/3 scale lends itself in making all the scale details stand out because of it size, especially when it comes to detailing the cockpit... CubMan and a few others have done an amazing job on their 1/4 scale cockpits.

I am still waiting for my winter project to arrive. It is a 168" span Carbon Cub which I am installing a DA150L with a 28x12 three blade prop. Eventually I will set it up for towing giant scale gliders.

Are you guys referring to the Aeroworks Carbon Cub?.... be careful about over powering it... there's a thread posted in one of the forums here, where someone over power theirs and induced wing flutter and the wing struts pull out of the wings.

White and yellow one would look nice!
