John,
I had Hanger 9 1/4 scale and DLE 30cc engine in it for summer float fly, more than enough power that I need for regular flying never pass haft the throttle stick and I can stay up in the air for 30 minutes. The good part is no oil to clean after fly and cheap too If you don't fly with float 26cc is perfect for the cub.

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***
Ok guys. So here is my cub story that I thought some of you cub lovers will enjoy. I haven't really been flying for a life time like some of you guys, I'm only a few years in. My first ever rc plane was the hobbyzone rtf champ. The little foam job. It suited me well at first, but quickly out grew it. One thing I always loved was its slow flight characteristics and just the looks of it. My next plane was a used SIG Astro hog. Not really the proper sequence of learning, but I had to have it. Well, I actually did alright, seeing that after a year, I sold it for more than I paid for it. Any way, back on track. I've always really wanted a cub, but never actually got one until recently. I finished the build in descent time and bought a saito 40 , a set o f floats, and a set of skis. I maidened it yesterday without many issues. The saito ran great, the plane was quite close to balanced , so that went well for a maiden. I brought it home and worked all of the bugs out. This morning, the weather in Connecticut was beautiful for a change, so I decided to go flying instead of to work, like usual. Being that we just got like three feet of snow dumped on us, I put the skis on. The cub took off beautifully, with no trim needed. I felt like I did only 4 or 5 short years ago wi th that little champ, which by the way, my 5 year old is now learning on. I came in for probably 15 or 20 touch and go's, and some of the most perfect landings of me flying life. I just can't get over how much fun I had with it this morning. One thing I know for sure is I am now a cub lover, and I want a bigger one. Any way, thanks for listening. Steve

I'll join in on the Cub Brotherhood, but don't make me # 13. All of my Cubs are the Hangar 9 variety; 1/5, 1/4 and the PA-18. Cubs and Wacos comprise half of my fleet along with a couple of Spacewalkers (1/5 and 1/3) and a variety of other a/c including my Golden Era 60 scratch built by Pat Morgan.

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***
Steve: That's why we all love Cubs!! Touch and goes are really fun with this model because it looks so real no matter what size it is and it makes us all smile! But, bigger is more fun as far as I'm concerned. I've had 2 Anniversary Cubs, one Sig 1/4th scale Cub and now have a Dave Patrick 1/4 scale Cub and they all make me smile when I fly them. [8D]

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***
Sign me up, I've got a Dave Patrick Super Cub and have owned 4 smaller Cubs over the past 20 years. Heck, I've even got a jacket that has this across the back: CUB CLUB, HASTINGS, MN.

Hey Cub Man,
I got the bungee covers in the mail last Friday. Very nice job!I can't wait to see what they look like on my Cub! Now if I can just find the time to finish it...... Eh... life happens.

Charles, please sign me up for the Cub Brotherhood. I've got a Sig 1/4 Cub to build right after I finish a long list of honey do's, including a major bathroom remodel. Years ago, Hazel Sig gave me ride in her cliipped wing Cub and I've had a love affair with the Cub ever since.

I want in. Currently kit bashing a B-Usa 1/4 scale into an L-4. About 80% done after only about 6 years, LOL. Just ordered a DLE 20 for it to try and breath some new life into the project.
More pics to come at a later date.

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***
Thanks David,
I started this project so long ago and had to shelf it for a few different reasons. I lost my shop at one point, moved, set up a new shop but lost motivation. Built a few other planes, let that shop go also, got married, moved into a new place, set up a few shops (1 garage bay and 2 rooms in the house) Lost interest in flying for a bit, got back into it last year, flew what I had and putzed around with an electric conversion. I am feeling driven this year, so I have committed to finishing projects (or selling them) that I have already started before buying any new kits. Part of my problem is I am a builder and want to go hog wild in the details which stalls me out if I am not consistent in dedicating time to getting them done. I find it easy to start a new project while I am waiting on parts or $ for parts.
I also ordered the Top Notch continental engine kit today also.

WHEW! You've definitely got the excuses. I have a few also but I'm not going there. Like you, the $'s is one of the things that's been slowing me down as well. I am in the process of painting and covering (using Cub Yellow Solartex) and I do hope to be finished with it soon. But again, like you, I want to put those little details in and will be stitching and pinking so I have to scrape up a few dollars for that. Anyway, I will get there, slowly but surely.... well, at least slowly....
Take care,
David

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***
I'd rather fly them than build if I had my choice and, like I heard a scale builder say: "You never really get done with one, you just get tired and quit adding details". I figure it this way - 70 feet at 60 MPH, if it looks good under those circumstances its scale enough for me! Different strokes for different folks!
