    Idid not read what color you are trying to match but if it is cub yellow, I found if I put on a real lite coat of white it comes out vary close, I think I did 3 lite coats of yellow

    hi malitape
    they made at one time in the past material label coverite shrink, and super shrink. whcih I used a lot. in fact I had some from way back
    which I just covered a telemaster 40 hobby lobby kit, also from way back.
    don't know it these forms are currently available, have seen a listing on them lataly but they were great for covering, both were
    unpainted and white.

    Pete that is the same stuff I used , It worked pretty good . It is easy because there is no painting involved and if you have dumb thumbs it is easy to repair...

    Joe, you mentioned that you had stock from some time ago that you recently used.
    Does this material keep for extended time without going bad? Have a person at the
    field with some rolls of coverite he had for years. little skeptical that it is still good.

    I have some partial rolls of coverite that is 25 yrs old . I covered a Godfrey Super Stearman with it back then.. It is still fine.. I wish I had full rolls of it.. It is great stuff . Probably the best stuff I have ever used...If I could buy some full rolls I would snap it up in a hurry . The stuff I used was sort of white and you had to paint it ..It didn't take paint well...The paint wouldn't stick and would crack off in places but the covering sure was nice . I think the paint thing was just a matter of not knowing what I was doing..Not using the rite primer or something..

    hi malitape

    have had mine for probably 15-20 years. kinda gave up on building and got involve in ham radio
    and other activities. lost interest here and am now back to model building. not much of an arf
    flyer here. like to fly what I build. have many kits, some, at 82yrs old, I know I will never get there
    on all.
    as far as age on the coverite it looks and feels as good as it was at the time I bought it. can tell no
    difference in feel or appearance and it went on and shrumk fine.
    I say if it looks ok go for it. good stuff, I like it. don't know if it still made. think I had the big roll, don't
    recall the length. still have some left for next model

    a follow up here on the paint I never had a problem with the paint on the coverite. in the past I know I used
    hobby poxy paints which is no longer available and and proibably others in the hobby line back then
    on the current telemaster I used Dutch Boy fast drying spray enamel interior/exterior red 3730. painted about 2 months ago and still looks good. I did let it cure for about 3 weeks before use. give the dutch boy a try, appears to work great with the coverite

    Thanks, Joe, will give it a try. My concern is if the adhesive is still working on an old roll
    that has been laying around. Maybe I should use some Stix-It first so I have good bond?

    It's this color red. They call it "light" red. I don't know about light. More like bright red.

    the shrink and super shrink did not have the adhesive applied.
    I used balsarite as a coating on the balsa which worked great.
    stix-it would also work, I have never used it.
    coat the balsa with the balsarite, let it dry and iron the fabric on.
    also, on lapping the covering coat the edge of the fabric with the balsarite
    and iron on. coat the section of fabric already attached and then do any add ons.

    Having a Sig 1/4 J3 Cub myself, I can see that a lot of lightening holes were made to the fuse in your pics. Was this done to use electric power? The Sig J3 is not necessarilly overbuilt, and I would question all the material removed. Converting to an L4 will further remove structural material designed in by Sig. Just a thought. Good luck.     I have recently aquired a 1/4 scale cub and would like to join the cub brotherhood.

    I am not sure what make it is, but it does have a 105" (1 piece) wingspan.
    The engine that is mounted in the plane is a German made Hans Hoernlein Profi 76 (12.65ccm)
    with a 14 x 6 MAS prop.
    I had to make some modifications to the original muffler as the engine is mounted inverted.
    The factory pressure nipple was facing downward and a lot of exhaust oil went up into the pressure line.
    As well the front of the muffler has a round factory hole in it that I had to plug with an M6 fine thread bolt.
    Now there is enough pressure to the tank and the engine does not quit at 1/2 throttle due to fuel starvation.
    I think that the engine has not run very much, because of the fuel problem.
    This leads me to believe that the plane has not seen any flying action.
    A few more tanks of fuel for run-in and she should be ready to feel the wind beneath her wings.

    If anyone can direct me to what the make of this model is, it would be much appreciated.
    I need some info on the C.G. measurements before flight time.
    I have looked at quite a few posts and came up with SIG, but they all seem to have two piece wings. Mine is a one piece wing.

    Try balancing at the main spar which is about 1/4- 1/3rd the wing cord from the front. Nose heavy would be more desirable.

    28% MAC is a good place to start when balancing a Cub.
    You may find you can move the balance back after you get a flight or town under your belt. When the balance is correct they should just float in on landing.

    Luckily the Mean Aerodynamic Chord measurement is easy on the Cub wings.
    No swept back wings. LOL
