Another thing i found on this model, are the printed former numbers, this clearly suggests that this model was built from some kit n not from scratch....
Front windshield is molded clear plastic, so these features only indicate one thing, Initially a kit built model1

Its been many years since I had his last bit of can left in my storage drawers, not sure where to find it now. My friend Nick bought these from some where in downtown Toronto area.
As for K2R, well this name rings me a bell from the time when I was told about this Neato stuff. It's a spot lifter as its said on the can's label, maybe other spot lifters can do same job, I don't know but i'm out of it, and I need more to spray on remaining
or stubborn spots left...

Yesterday the weather cleared up long enough for me to get out and get in some flights on my "new" used Cub. Over the winter I replaced the entire fuel system, cleaned the spark plug on the G-26 and in general went through the model from stem to stern to be sure nothing was loose or binding. I replaced the windshield with one from H-9 and with a little bit of careful trimming I got that to fit nicely. I also replaced the Rx battery and fixed the loose and wobbly wheels plus got some bungee cord covers from a pal so the landing gear looks pretty much scale. The previous owner had used conventional 2-stroke oil mixed to 40 to 1 but I run all my gas engines with 100 to 1 Ammsoil so that is what I used in this "new to me" engine. Its a G-26 with a Magneto and the model is a Dave Patrick Super Cub. The engine hadn't been ran for about a year so I didn't expect to get to fly the model w/o a lot of dinging around and tuning but that's not how it went at all. Instead, it fired right up and after a couple of minutes at about 1/2 throttle during which the motor surged a lot it suddenly settled down and ran fine with no hesitation when transitioning from low speed jet to the high speed side so I flew it. Winds were 5 gusting to 15 but right down the runway so it was no problem flying it at all. The model performs beautifully and will do an amazing amount of aerobatics - inverted fugure 8's require some finesse but it will do everything I want to try and of course the most fun is a short-field take off with full flaps and also full-stop landings. The thing literally leaps off the ground with full flaps and there is nothing like seeing a Cub on final - well, MAYBE a Corsair - but as always Cubs bring out the smiles whenever they are brought to the field - no matter what size model it is - everybody likes them. The G-26 powers this DP model just right. CUBS FOREVER! (that's my story and I'm a-stickin' to 'er) 8-)

isnt it coil when you get a plane that just flies so well and goes way beyond your expectations. thats what its all about. The DP models are just the right ones for the job too. for me, its a sig 1/4 cub. one wheel touch and gos almost take my breath away.or a perfect landing on glass like water with floats. thats where its at. congrats on finding a great plane. Steve.

Yeah, if a guy could only have one model airplane I think my choice would have to be this Cub. Its truly a pleasure to have a nicely performing model with no bad habits and some cool looking details. [8D]

HI,
I'm back in the hobby after 6 year job transfer in the Houston area. Retired now in OKC and ready to go on Cub number 7... I've built, flown and sold, 3 1/4 scale Sig Cubs, Two Goldberg Anniversary, one Great Planes 40 and one Great Planes 60...
I'd love to go next with Balsa USA. 1/3 scale dream but guess I better go with 1/4 scale as I have the engine and servo's for 1/4 scale.

I thought I would try and post a couple of pic of my progress on my BUSA 1/4 Scale Cub . I still have a long way to go.. I don't have any struts yet so the wing are a bit droopy..I have my motor all mounted but I have it off for now . I will strip the landing gear off later today also so I can start work on my struts .. This sure has been a fun build ..

I've decided to take out the tail servos operating tail wheel connected with rudder servo inside the fuselage, I will connect tail wheel with rudder on the with 2 springs on each side.
I'm also going to use pull pull system on both rudder and elevator controls. I will connect elevators with a rod connected tot he arm that is connected with pull pull wires to the servo inside the fuselage.
Removing this servo has decreased some weight in the tail.

I am going to replace the "O" rings on the landing gear with 1/8th inch shock cord - the "O" rings are cracking open just sitting there so they are not gonna do the job reliably. I found 1/8th in ch shock cord at: SUPPLY CAPTAIN LTD. They are located in N.Y. It is reasonably priced and comes in a variety of colors. Just in case anybody else needs some of the stuff.

I went to the McMaster Carr online catalog and found the silicone rubber counterpart for the one Robart uses; granted they are red in color but hold up far superior to the neoprene ones. Getting a season out of them.
