Hey John, I like the idea of that small strip of covering over the center joint. I used
Koverall on my 1/4 clipped and it was a lot easier to use in that area.

Shiprex , That gear looks really nice and I bet you don't have $150.00 plus in it. I
like to see when guys do stuff like that.

Not sure if anyone has seen this but Adrian Page is trying to get back in the kit business. He made a great 81: Super Cub.

"I'm not sure where all the kits have gone but here is your chance to help bring some of them back. Just go to this kickstarter page and pledge for the kit of your choice: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...utting-project
If enough people pledge for a kit I will be bringing all my Page Aviation kits back to market. Please have a look and spread the word.

Adrian"

I would love one of his Bee Gees but I don't want to pledge without the cash on hand. It's not fair to him.

No pledge no kits. He has to make the goal or he won't have the money for the laser cutter that will enable him to keep prices affordable. I'm in the same boat. Think I'll pledge for the 40 size Cub. I really want the R2 but can't afford it right now.

Yeah, one day I'll give that koverall a try... but that strip over the seam on the spine finishes it off, especially if you use a pieces of pinked tape... the original cub was covered in the same way you did your yellow cub in the 21st fabric... the top was done in one piece of fabric and overlapped at the corner edges... when I re-cover my cub in solartex, I'm going to attempt to cover the top of the fuse and "both" sides of the vertical fin in "one" piece of fabric... if I'm successful in pulling that "rabbit out of the hat", I'll post some pic's of it.

Hey John,
I covered this cub with solartex and it went on good but you could see the wood through it. I then brushed some
acrylic enamel over top of that and it just didn't cover good. I should have used some primer sealer before the paint.
That is when I decided to use the 21st century fabric. I have another 1/4 clipped kit that I will use solartex and paint
on and next time I will use a sealer before the paint. I've been wanting to put wheel pants on one real bad. That would
be a feat if you could pull off that covering job in one piece.

Thanks one big girl you have there Super08... nice clipped cub... looks like an ARF ??... whats scale is it, 40% ?

***Edit*** I see its another Bill Hempel 40% clipped wing cub... 12 Hp up front should do the trick... the quality of his ARF kits look very good.

John nailed it, it's a 40% Hempel. That is why I wasn't sure if it would count, it is an ARF.

A cub is a cub, is a cub... there are cub brothers here with Hanger 9 cubs, so why segregate the ARF's... my inlaw has an H9 j3... and I'm really liking their super cub, and may get one for something to fly while I'm restoring my Sig cub.

Does that mean I should put my Jigsaw Cub and my Champ in my Sig? That brings me up to 3 Cubs all at once... WooHoooo!

Cubcrasher -

Your fuse is GORGEOUS! I like the interior all grey; looks so Govt Surplus.

Shiprex -

Your landing gear is AWESOME!!!

I toyed with the idea of building my own out of similar materials; the gear that came with my Cheapo-China ARF 035 Cub was made literally from TIG-Welded coathanger and 4mm nuts. HIDEOUS.

I vacillated over the e-Flite 025 Cub gear...

and the Hangar 9 040 Cub gear...

they're both nice looking (the E-Flite gear is super scale looking) but finally allowed common sense to take over, knowing how I'm likely to abuse my landing gear. I went with the horribly non-scale Great Planes 060 Cub aluminum plate gear.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1p?&I=GPMQ1855

I know; sacrilege. But by overlapping the plates in the middle...

...I got it so it looks like it belongs there; now I need to paint it.

I think I can make some faux springers once I get to where I'm not abusing my Cub so much.

Here is a video my wife took for me the second time I took my Cub out to the field. To give some persective to it the wheels are 8.5" high and the top of the wing is around 38" from the ground when sitting on it's gear.

Thank you John_m, cubcrasher and mnem for your kind words. The picture does make the gear look better than real life. But they will be functional.
Super08 all I can say is WOW!!! Nice flying and touch and goes smooth as butter to boot. Nice craft in every respect.

Nice video Super08... She flies very well... I'd say 40% is just right for my old eyes... I was watching a youtube video yesterday of BH's 25% L4... that's another beautiful flying aircraft; the L4 in 40% would be just fine & dandy for me too, lol.

It is a 3W 110 Competition version with a 29x10 prop. However, I do want a little better vertical and I will soon be installing a DA 150L with a set of 110 RE canisters. Probably use a 31x10W prop. I had to add a pound of nose weight. By going to the larger engine I can remove all the weight. I have a new cowl and all the supplies to do the conversion ready to install now.

With a DA 150 you won't need to taxi just give her full throttle and she'll jump into the air!

It does that now.

It is not as wild as it sounds. I know of three guys that have used a 150 already. It is not any faster, just pulls harder on vertical lines and has the ability to pull out of a hover.
