Well maybe not practical, but scale is scale... plenty of room for it if the servo is remotely mounted with a control cable turning the jack screw, and a mini servo would be plenty.strong enough to turn the screw... Paolo Severin's 1/4 cub has a adjustable jack screw on the horizontal stab, but its adjusted manually via a socket head screw... these were just ideas that I would have to prove first with some mockups, and if I thought it was feasible, then I might go ahead with it... it would be nice to have an all out scale J3 Cub, rigging and all... the problem is I like to tinker with things... thats the reason why it's turned into a long project, because I keep thinking, and every time I think, I go off in another direction.

Well post a link to your build thread when you get started, so we all can follow.

John in some ways we think the same, I think it's called, think & rethink and hope the rework isn't the result of bad thinking or darn, I didn't see that. Trying to cover all bases in a remake or altered structure done wrong is a pain in the duff. While I try to think things through real well I keep options open while doing it as things start to show up in the process that require a different approach, it's good to catch them then rather than starting over. Building scale is a challenge in it's self and it always takes longer as there is a number of things to figure out as you go. Finding out how far one can go trying to scale dimensions of steel tubing on wing tips and perimeter of tail surfaces is one example, it's not going to be done with balsa and plywood so we do it off scale to look scale.

Anyway that's building scale and I like the challenge because it's good food for the old brain of mine and a great way to spend the winter.

I'll post a link soon, I hope, and I welcome all the company I can get, be glad to have you too Keith.

Can anyone tell me on a 1/3 scale cub, when you clip the wing, do you move the outer strut mounts out two bays or leave them per the shortened plan and cut the struts shorter?

Thanks.

Gary.

You remove the bays on the inside so the ailerons are not affected. This will require a shorter struts

That is the coolest super Cub I have ever seen. It looks so sleek and fast. Beautiful job :-)

Thanks for the info on the struts. Anything wrong with removing one bay instead of two? I know it's not scale, but I like the look of a slightly clipped wing vs a full two bays. Any known flying issues with this approach?
thanks again

As you likely already have considered, suggest you position the tank as recommended in relation to the lowered needle valve position. Good luck.

I am inverting my YS 120 in my Gen 1 H9 J3 to clean up the cowl also.

Sincerely, Richard

Question about the tank location - can you give me details on how the tank should be located for 4 stroke. Do you base it off the actual position of the clunk or the exit tube out of the tank??

Thanks

Horizontal centerline of the tank should be as close to the centerline of the spraybar as possible. It's the level of the fuel that determines the "head" not the clunk or exit lines.

Thanks, I spent hours trying to come up with it. One thing I found out, White is a pain in the ARSE to work with. I tried spraying but it came out dull, and seemed to use a LOT of dope to do so. Brushing leaves streaks, but only the white, the red and blue came out really nice. I still have to finish the wing bottoms and the door, and then it is all ready for windows and radio.

I think the tank is at the right position, but will double check it, if it isnt and I have to lower it, that will be a problem since the throttle cable is right under the tank floor.

Sorry for the delay. I had to find my stuff in storage after my move. My template has gone missing, but it can be downloaded from the Sig build manual http://www.kavanrc.de/instructions/sigrc48cub.pdf. On page 35-37. Hope this works for you, let me know if it doesn't. sincerely, Richard
