Looks very good, I remember when I was painting my Cirris (that has since been sold and shipped to Ft. Lauderdale) how many rolls of tape and masking material I went thru. I like your choice of color. I did a similar scheme after I had to just about repaint the entire fwd end after an unplanned departure from controlled flight. I was in St Augustine earlier this week and flew out of Jacksonville,,, wish I had been paying attention to my email and your post. I would have stopped by. Perhaps next time.

Nice looking planes.......what do you use to paint them? Parallel lines are difficult to do. I like your color schemes.

Sebo, I use Krylon Fusion on Plastics/fiberglass and some woods. Its fast and has held up really well to gas/oil fuel like your typical DLE engine uses. I got the original color scheme from a plane I saw on Airlines.net but then made up the new scheme. My stripes were horrible on the fuse, that why I stopped on one side and was going to do something totally different on the opposite. But before I could remedy it,,,,,I sold it due to that being my second DLE-20 that was not reliable in air. Enough about me. Do you plan to video taxi, engine runs and maiden? PLEASE.......

I plan to video some of it. I will take a lot of "stills" first. The engine has never been run.....Saito 300 single carb...I have a dual carb engine on my Hostetler Cessna 150. plane weighs 38 pound and it is still plenty of power. It needs new rx batteries...they are now 6 years old and I don't trust them. It will be a while before I get the lancair into the air. I had originally planned on that for the spring of 2015...a little late for that now. I didn't know that Krylon was fuel proof....I mean nitro fuel.

Sebo, thanks for the build of the ES. I have ordered the plans and a kit, and hope to start building in a few weeks.
I have a set of retracts, that I was going to use on a Sterner Vampire, it looks like they may be ok for the Lancair ES.

I am painting the trim colors on it now....A bit tedious but I want to do it "MY" way.
I wish you luck with yours....It has been a fun build even though I dragged it out longer than my usual builds.

What motor are you using, is it the Saito Twin? we have a noise problem at my local club so I am
sriously considering going electric,
Any comments or advice?

Yes, I am using the Saito 300 Twin.
I have the two carb one on my Hostetler Cessna 150. The Cessna weighs 38 pounds and the engine hauls the plane around with authority.
I am hoping the one carb on does the same.
If you can find an electric motor that will haul around a 25 plus pound plane, go for it....If you cover the plane with covering rather than glassing it you should come in at around 23 pounds. I don't know what the Lancair will weigh having been covered with glass....Haven't weighed it yet...

My single carb Saito 300 has plenty of power. Just remember to adjust the needle to the lean cylinder. This means that the second cylinder will be on the rich side, and the exhaust will have more smoke.

Thanks for the info on adjusting the carb......It hasn't been run yet....purchased it on ebay new in box for 700 dollars several years ago.

I'm usually going to bed at this hour but I got sleepy last night very early...the doctor prescribed a heart pill that just knocked me out at about 7pm.
It feels funny getting up instead of going to bed....hope I get used to it...I can get a lot more done around here if I start early, but night time seems to be my best building time....I can't see what I'm doing wrong then.....LOL

After that, weather permitting, I walk, and then head out to the shop.

As I get older I am losing ambition....Just don't have that get-up-and-go any more.....
Maybe things will change now, starting today.
Just looked at the plane and decided not to put numbers on the fuselage.....got them all ready but don't like the way they look. They break up the sleekness of the design.
Probably will just put a small set of them on the vertical stab.

I've been retired for 8 years. By staying active, I don't become bored. I'll continue to build as long as I am able. I enjoy it tp much to assemble ARFs.

It's too bad that you spent the $$$ for graphics that you won't use.

I'll save the graphics for another plane....I'm going to be 74 next month. Have a bad back and lots of aches and pains...I guess they come with old age....Doctor says I may have a blood clot. Going into the hospital next week to find out for sure.
He gave me a blood thinner that puts me out like a rock. Gives me a huge headache too.
I plan to work on the last piece of painting today....except for the numbers.....I just might go to the craft store and pick up a couple of sheets of them. They will be rather small so I just might use black.

Getting old sucks. I just turned 68. I have to remind myself that I'm not 40, anymore. I tend to start large projects that wouldn't have bothered my, basck then. These days, it's a different story. LOL

I built this deck last Summer. It should have taken two weeks. It took six, and the rest of the Summer to re-cooperate.

Ron and Tom, Here I thought you guys were older than I and I just found out I'm the older geezer. LOL Will be 75 next month and still kicking. Told the nurse the other day I had a mind of a 26 year old and the body of an old fart and that my get up and go -got up and went.
Ron, I hope your hospital visit yields good results as blood clots are not good for your health. Us old timers must keep the flames a burning and keep on truckin' doing what we love to do. Not let's cut the chatter and get back to work!! LOL

That deck was self inflicted "pain.' I started out to resurface the old deck and the project doubled. LOL

It ended well, though. We spent the rest of the Summer entertaining and relaxing out there.
