Default Decals won't stick, please help!!!

I am completing my free-flight model but the decals won't stick.

They are the wet and stick type. I follow the directions using warm water and letting them soak for 10 seconds then waiting 60 seconds before sliding them in place. Just to have them slide right off when dry.

My question is can I stick them on with instant glue (CA)? The model is the basic stick and tissue Guillows kit.

Don't use CA as it might damage the tissue. Use some office stationary paper glue, the white type that dries transparent. Dilute some with water but it still should be a bit tacky, applied to the back of the decal and positioned on the model and left to dry, and you should be good to go. You might want to practice on a piece of tissue just so you get it right on the model.

Can a glue stick be used to apply the decals?

Maybe, if you are VERY careful.

If these are water slide decals you have to let them completely dry before they will be permanant in place. To completely dry can sometimes take over 24 hours. Just because you don't see or feel any water doesn't mean they are "dry". Put them in place, work all the water you can see off of them. And then LEAVE THEM ALONE and let them dry. As I said, it can sometimes take 24 hours or longer before they are set in place

If they are very old sometimes they will never stick. I use spray mount glue for a lot of things in my shop and always have it on hand. Clean to use and it holds well. Found at any craft store.

Thank you Gray Beard for that info. The kits were purchased on ebay so there is no way to know how old the kits are, so that is a possibility. I used a glue stick to apply them and it worked beautifully, just gotta make sure they go exactly where you want them before you press it down.

P.S: Welcome back Gray Beard . . . great to hear about your successful heart surgery, get well quick . . . my prayers for a speedy recovery.

RCKen, before they even had a chance to fully cure they came right off, wouldn't stick on long enough to cure.

Very true. I just had problems with some on a brand new ARF. All the small ones worked great but the large ones had the color peel off and they wouldn't stick. These were glue back type.
They didn't crack my chest. They just put in a shunt and have me on a lot of drugs. I'm starting to get better pretty fast now. Thanks a lot. Can't mstay on a puter long but I can at least keep up with a little of what is going on.
