RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
I had a learning experience of my tiger maiden today. As I mentioned earlier, I used some budget electric retracts in the wing, I tried them many times without issue at home, but I must have had something loose, during the maiden, the wheels retracted fine, but when he tried to lower them, they got hung up, which caused a very heavy drain on my batteries, which caused my rx to lock up and the plane to crash. I am bummed at everything. The damage is not as bad as it could have been, and I think I am going to repair, but sad day for me.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your Tiger.. I have also had bad experience with electric retracts in an Ultra Sport and have decided that I wont bother to put them in a sport aircraft again..They bend too easily and need constant tweaking.. Again sorry to hear of your loss.. Tigers are one of my favorite planes

Sorry for your loss. Next time with electric retracts you can use a JR matchbox and 2nd battery. The second battery plugs into the Matchbox and will power the retracts. the match box will Isolate the Rx battery from the possible power drain.
On smaller planes I like to use SpringAir retracts a strong retract with a proven history ... air up and spring down if you loose air pressure the gear come down.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
Hi all, I would like to join the Tiger Club. I am building my second Tiger 60, the first was the arf, agreat aircraft, so good in factit inspired me to buildthe kitso I could personalize it.The arfwas a tail dragger withan OS 75 AX,(an incredible combo), the newTiger is getting a Magnum 91 4 stroke, which I have had much success with. It will be built in the trike configuration,a 3 blade MAS prop, 3" wheels, completely stock out of the box.
I have completed the stab, rudder, and will startconstruction on the wing today. I find the kit to bea straight forward build, with the only change being the wood for the stab/rudder as it was rock hard and heavy. The hardward, imho,is typically lesserqualityand will be replaced.Iplanoncontrol rods rather than nyrods. I havea Futaba 10c 2.4 radio/617rxand will install S3010 Futaba servos.
So far it has been a lot of fun, I had forgotten how much enjoyment I getbuilding myown aircraft. I like arfs too butwill be building more of my own planes now that I am retired.
I will post some pictures asI progress. Looking forward to getting my GTC number! Thank you.

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
oh man i lost my tiger last saturday. I heard flutter on a pass over the runway figured it was an aileron, End of the runway pull straght up probably harder than i should have, Hammer head and come staight down with no elevator. Total loss was able to save engine, Reciever and battery pack. I hit so hard that it put a hole in a 6 oz hard dubro tank and stripped the gears of the servos except one. The elevator servo. Post crash examination showed that it looked like the control horn pulled out of the elevetor i'm assuming on the way down. I'm totally bummed about but now i can build a new one with some mods to make it a little more responsive. Phil #19

Thanks
It is at the point were I usually lose interest (I know! I'm nuts!) But I do have many others On the workbench, and I am considering installing a different nose gear.
Modifying my birds is very gratifying to me I really don't care to have something others have. modifying and scratch building makes me happy.

hey guys well we flew the two tigers we build but the tail dargger meet a pole on a climb out the os 60 airbleed carb that i got years ago dead stick and meet the pole, hit it, rap around and got the tail could of fix it but for the price of a new one wasnt worth my time as for the 60 fp os engine could never get her to run right and because of crashs it broke the neele valve and bend the shaft so she is now a reef in my pond we are going to start a new one next week maybe with retracts any one got information on how to do that thanks rye

Hi All,
I finally maidened my Tiger 2 after the rebuild (whole new kit.) This time it weighs about a pound more and it really took the float out of it. Here's the video.

My Tiger 60 ARF went into a tree on it's third flight, destroyed it
getting it down. Always wanted to build and fly the Tiger II, may do it soon.
