Ken I like hand full of fun as a description as the way it flies, I sure hope mine will provide me the same fun when he goes up. It's ready for the maiden which I will post on my build site. I thought I would post a new pict of it completely finished plane with new blue cowl trailing a chevron. If looks are any indication it could be a real tiger. Watch my build site for video.

Thank you jkr1100, plane was a joy to build, as for the master builder part, well I'm not sure about that, I just did my best and learned a lot along the way but it's nice of you to say that.
Phil I hope I don't need the luck, glad you like it, was a fun build.

You may be right. You are not a master you are an artisan. the photo of the plane in the bones with no covering says it all. I have been practicing wood working for over 20 years.

I feeling of great pride I am sure. my 11 year old has sort of skipped over the part where he goes on to make a solo flight. I think he has little interest at this time. I am jealous of the way you are able to share the hobby with your son.

Don't knowhow I missed this one. I built my Tiger 60 a couple of years ago and did it onthe Tiger build thread here on RCU. I sadly put it in the trees the first yearand have been doing rebuild ever since. Now I am about done and can't wait toget it back in the air. The two links are both of the tiger builds. The foamwing is my new wing going together.

Loves me my Tigers!
I've logged more hours on the Tigers than all my other planes put together (over 20 planes currently).
Currently I have a Tiger 2 built from a kit and a Tiger 60 also built from a kit.
Gone but not forgotten are 2 Tiger 2 ARFs and a Tiger 60 ARF which all hit their expiration dates prematurely.
As long as I can find them there will always be a Tiger in my hanger.

Here's my Tiger 40, with an Enya 40. It's been modified for dual aileron servos, and is a tail dragger. I'm covering it this wekend while it's raining. I'm doing up in Red, and Red checkers like the Sig Astro Hog.
The other Plane is a Cap 21 built from an old IM Products kit, that I thought I'd show off!

I just finished my covering and am getting into the actual assembly stage of my build. I'm doing an electric conversion. My build log is over on RCG here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1646827.
And I'd like to have a number as well.

Here's my completed Tiger 2, done up like an Astro Hog. I may need to add some some numbers or something on the fuselage, but other then that it's not to bad. The pilot came with a pink shirt that just didn't look right, so I painted it to match the plan. Now he looks like Tony DiNozzo!
The total weight came out to 92 Oz dry (5 lb. 11 oz) which seems a little heavy. To balance it required about 4 Oz of nose weight to balance in the mid point as shown on the plans. The Enya 40 seems to be on the lighter side as far as recent engine selections go, but certainly doesn't account for the need for 4 Oz of nose weight. But, I also left off the nose wheel, and added a tail wheel, and used a LiFe battery. All kine of pointing to a lighter nose, or heavier tail. Next time I'll build one from plans and use more balsa instead of Light Ply, I didn't use any of the kit hardware anyway.
Sky tiger kits do show on no Ebay from time to time, otherwise you might be able to find a set of plans.

Looks good! It does look like you used light stuff ahead of the CG and balancing it like you did is very important. You could put on heavier/bigger wheels, a heavier prop, and even heavier landing gear if you want to lose the lead, but it looks like it will fly like a million bucks the way it is.

I just found your post! Argh!
I haven't put an engine on my Tiger 1.20 ARF as yet, but my friend's is flying nicely with an ASP 1.08 two-stroke.
Naturally, it needs larger control surfaces in order to fly decently to an old pattern fan such as myself, but it does just fine with stock surfaces for someone such as your son. It's a wonderful kit. Anyone interested should make me an offer. I'm reasonable these days.

Warning Shot, I like your visibility bars!
Feel sorry for you guys in the freeze in the USA and the UK now. I got the Tiger 2 up today and had a great day. This was my second time up with the new Spektrum DX6i and Spektrum receiver and things went fantastic. The 35AX is running better than ever after something like a thousand flights now. Perfect engine for the TIger II as it makes the airplane fly like pure magic.
