I flew this version of a Tiger as a gasser for two years http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/kit-...club-46.htmlas post #1129. I then decided to convert it to electric. Power system is an Eflite power 110, Jeti 90 amp HV esc and 9S 4000 mah battery packs. The overall weight is within 4 oz. of the gas version and the performance is fantastic. I'm running an APC 17X10 E prop and the airplane is very fast with more than enough power for any maneuver I can throw at it. Flight time is 7 minutes with plenty of reserve. Just thought I would share my experience.

Been flying the Phoneix Models copy of the Tiger 2 and it flies just like the kit version. They even copied the bad parts like the landing gear mounting blocks too far forward so you have to bend the legs back to keep it sitting on the gear. The two piece wing is a nice feature. I epoxied one side of the aluminum wing tube to a wing receiver tube and that took care of any play in the wing. At 109 bucks, it is an "okay" alternative to the kit version. Only "okay" because the covering is strange, the graphics are a bit odd, and it wasn't kit-built. Just like all the other Tigers, I set the CG 38% back and it slows to a crawl for landing and flies like a dream.

Quick update on the Phoneix Tiger.... It is a great flying plane and flys exactly like the Carl Golberg version since it has the same areas and moments. The firewall is very soft and I had to reinforce it as the engine mount would just keep forcing itself into the wood. If you buy one, make sure you add a layer of fiberglass or another layer of ply to the firewall. The mounting screws provided are also not worth using. Otherwise it is a worthy buy. I guess I should really start a thread on the Phoenix version since this is the Goldberg Tiger club, but it is so similar!

Hi Gents.
I've always wanted a Tiger, and recently found one, also on an estate sale.
Beautifully built, and covered with Solartex or something similar.
I'm going to ditch the screaming 2 stroke and see if I can get a 4 stroker to fit without butchering her.

I've had this plane on my scratch built list. But I am going to order the kit along with some hardware that I need. Not sure when it gets built. A plane for the future. Probably order tomorrow after I get my "To Buy" list ready.

Well I didn't place my order as planned. Which turned out to be a good thing. Tower Hobbies just started another ECASH rewards period thru November 7. So I will order on Friday. This way I will use the discount coupon and earn ECASH reward. Then I'll redeem my ECASH when they open the redeem period. So I will save even more. I do this often when ordering from Tower. It is best to have the second order ready to go as you get only about a week to redeem your earned ECASH. It is always good when you save some cash. LOL.

I just purchased a DLE-20RA that I will be installing in a Tiger 60 kit I bought a few months ago. I was inspired by how Leroy's G. Tiger came out so as soon as I'm done with my Bravo (which is still on my build table) I am going to start on it! Can't wait...
I've had two Tigers in the past, and I enjoyed flying them both.

Ok, so I've had this Tiger jr .25 size... It's half built for a few years now, lol and was thinking of converting it to electric. I don't have any experience in electric just looking for any advise... I have a couple other unbuilt models I may convert to electric if I like it. Thanks.
I would recommend an electric setup that yields 250 watts of power per pound of finished model weight.
This is to my taste for unlimited vertical performance.
