RE: Pat Trittle designed Dumas DH 4 kit build
Still sick, but seem to be on the mend. I took today off sick from work, so despite continued coughing fits and feeling low, I managed to keep going and am now going to say the build is done. I could add a few more details like some more flying wires, machine guns, pilot figures, and I may, but for now, I'm done. Final pictures attached. Thanks to everybody who is following this thread. I will let you know if/when it flies! Wish me luck.

RE: Pat Trittle designed Dumas DH 4 kit build
I decided to see if I could build something that looks like a Lewis gun from the scraps and pic on the plans. I came up with something and glued it onto the back cockpit. I also used some stiff paper to cover said cockpit so the servos are now hidden. I decided NOT to worry about the fancy mount for the gun.

RE: Pat Trittle designed Dumas DH 4 kit build
I hoped for a maiden today and took the DH 4 to an outdoor venue. Unfortunately, there was so much moisture in the air the tissue wrinkled immediately. I then went to an indoor venue after the tissue had dried and smoothed itself out. However the indoor venue was just a standard sized gym so I did not feel safe trying to fly here. But I did taxi it around for a minute.

OK we had a successful maiden flight today, with video, such that it is.
In addition, I spent some more time adding features over the last few days. I completed the flying wires in the inner wing panels, and added wires to the upper tailfeathers. I also went ahead and built something that masquerades as a forward firing machine gun and glued it onto the battery cover. Here are some pictures, including one of my NEXT project which I started yesterday.
The flight was outdoors in light and variable breezes. After a taxi test I put the coals to it and she jumped into the air. I thought she might be a bit tail heavy and she flew that way, but not too bad. Full nose down trim and low power settings and she was quite controllable. I may be able to add a bit of down thrust (it already has some) and can add small amounts of weight behind the cowl easily.
Thank you to everybody who followed this build, and especially to those who added such nice comments.
