Have you had any more flights? Curious about how she handles flap deployment.
Steve I completely rebuilt the elevator and added the tabs the one on rudder was taken out because of interference when it turned, angle was wrong. "Flaps", not sure that I need them yet, when it was landed it just floated in like it had no stall speed and flaps were never used. I would put them on just in case you need them, you don't have to use them if it will slow down enough for landing.

Likely won't fly it again till spring, weather this time of year is not good, any flying is very limited.

Steve I forgot to mention that I used part of the strip ailerons to extend the elevators and the tabs are stick built to save weight.

I think I will skip the flaps. I never needed them on my previous Tiger.

Just letting y'all know I have been intermittently working on my Tiger. Today I built the cockpit. I have also built the wings but have not yet sheeted them. I have the wheel pants ready for primer and paint. I have a lot of sanding to do. And still have to build the tail feathers and the cowling.

I took a few pics last night but have not transferred them to my PC yet.

You said earlier that you removed the tab from the rudder due to a bad angle. The pics look like the tab was angled down with the fuselage straight and level. Should you been angled up or down, from the rudder to the stab l/e? I would still like to have the tab if it is doable. I am thinking with the fuse level as if in flight, the tab angle should be zero at that point.

Steven the tab would have to be 90 deg. to hinge line, I had changed the angle of mine more rearward and made the top of fin shorter. That should show up on one of the plan sheets. If it runs paralle to thrust line it may be ok also.

Leroy, sorry about the lack of pics but I have had issues trying to load them to my laptop. My progress has been fairly good considering my basement is unheated. Horz & very stab with elev & rudder are ready to cover. Over the last 2 days I have been sculpting my engine cowl. A little more fine sanding of the shape and its ready for glass. I used the green foam stuff you can get at Walmart. It sculps with ease. I still need to hinge the ailerons, but I did get the servo mounts installed.
I will be calling Tower to see what they might do about my canopy. After i removed the film covering i found the canopy covered in weird lines. Obvious manufacturing defect. I'll let yall know how that goes very soon.

Hi Steven, at least your making some progress and the cowling plug is a fun project, at least I hope it is. Thats good news on the canopy, did or are you going to shorten it like I did, I think I took 4 1/2" off mine. Looking foward to seeing it finisher, the Tiger is a good looking plane.

"Hey", get some heat in the basement, one of those milk house heaters work pretty good. When you epoxy you need around 70 deg. for propper cure.

I do have a space heater I use when I really need it. But here in Alabama we often get warm spells throughout the winter.

And i am doing the canopy just as you did.

OK, warm spells ?, we don't have any in the forcast for the next 3 months, however with the weather so screwed up all ouer you never really know from week to week.

I just finished glassing my Spacewalker fuselage, next will come filling the weave, it all takes time but is worth it in the end, I'm about ready to cover the rest of it with Solartex.

.Leroy I wish you were located close to me so that I could come over and check out your technique in person. Oh well. Anyway, I have finally figured out how (got my wife to do it) to get my phone pics to the PC. So I will try to show you my progress. Last night I Ultracoated the tail and fuse. I have one side of the wings covered. So far I only have the main color installed. I am going with a Tiger scheme. Orange body with black strips. White belly and black paws. The stripes really set off the entire scheme. On my first Tiger I did the same covering scheme but because it was a one piece wing I was able to put a Roll Tide Roll decal on the wing bottom. Here in Bama if you have anything tiger related it is assumed you are an Auburn fan, of which I am most definatly NOT. So a flyby with a slow roll would make that clear. On this one I will only be able to put Roll on the left and Tide on the right wing bottom. It still works.
I have to say I love the mods you have done and I hope to fly in maybe 3-4 weeks. I still have to finish sanding and painting the cowl. But the entire project is getting very close.

That B-29 was from a fly-in near Atlanta that I went to last fall.

Steven your almost there and it's looking pretty good, when it's finished you will have the only one like it and all the work will be worth it. The Tiger is a good flier and what you have done should not change that. Make sure yoy have the wing incedence and engine off sets as per plan and it will fly fine. You have flown it before so it should be no different than your other one, good luck with the maiden and keep me posted.

The B-29 is a beauty, I would be scared to death to fly something like that.

Have you been watching my Spacewalker 11 build, I haven't seen you there, it's on VincentJ's finished 1/4 scale Spacewalker 11 build and your welcome to join in if you like, you'd probably like building that one also.

Take care, Leroy and thanks for the heads up.

Here is a pic of my Sky tiger I built in 1985. This was the alternative paint scheme on the box. This was the night of the maiden flight. I had an OS .40 FSR, that I had taken from my Eagle trainer. I had this plane until 1991, when I forgot to put enough rubber bands on the wing, and it came off. That was a sad day.

vertical it's always a bad day when we lose one, time to build another wouldn't you say. The Tiger 60 is a good one and a great flier as are the rest of them. Hope to see you build another.

I did look at the spacewalker build thread. I had commented that on my RealFlight simulator the Spacewalker is a major floater. I wondered if that is real world.

Yes, I under stand it will float nicely, the dihedral will allow that, it's one of the nice things about this plane not to mention it can be very aerobatic if you do that kind of flying and I do, fun stuff.
