Wing tube
I've kinda run into a problem with a set of foam wings.
I had a set of foam wings cut for a Uproar 60, when they were burnt, the wing tube hole for the phenolic sleve was over burnt in diameter..
No way can their be enough epoxey put in to hold the tube.
Can a socket be fiberglassed up to a different diameter to fit the wing?
Wrap the socket with balsa and go from their??
Inquring mind needs to know,

Can you sand and wrap the tube with glass and epoxy to the proper diameter?

Gorilla glue is a perfect adhesive for this little issue because it expands as it cures with a little moisture, I had a friend that had the same issue with his tube and foam core on a 40% IMAC airplane. so we placed random medium CA dots all around the tube and cured them with kicker, then we slipped the tubes into the holes now centered and glued them in with Gorilla glue, that was the lightest option and was also 2 years ago. Still flying. Here is a couple of pictures utilizing Gorilla glue for your review.

Actually it will very easily. For a gap that large just cut 1/4" long X 3/16" thick Balsa and CA Glue them randomly around the tube, then pre fit in the core, remove and spray inside of core tube with windex, apply liberal amount of G/G inside core and on tube and quickly insert tube. Have handy wrap ready and apply to the top and bottom of the core and place inside of core shucks, apply weight while on a flat surface and allow to cure overnight. If you have not used windex on G/G it reacts a little like CA kicker and foams very good.
If you have not noticed in the picture, I also place the servo rails in at the same time.

RE: Wing tube
With the tube for shimes it keeps the main tube centered so it stays in alinement. You don't want to get them in wrong or you cold have a bad fit with the wing and fuse. You don't use the tube solid , you put it on in smaller ring and then GG it and it will stay aligned.

RE: Wing tube
I use gorilla glue for anything that requires expanding glue, good stuff. I also buy my wing tubes from Central Hobbies and they have the sockets and tubes for 1 1/4 inch for under $25.00. Just a thought but buying the correct size socket would work too. I know, no fun at all doing it that way but I was just looking at the tubes and sockets I need for my next builds and noticed the sizes.

RE: Wing tube
GB, really that's where my problem started..
I measured the print for the wing tube !" (didn't even think about measuring the wing socket) Low and behold too small.
Okay plunk out some more money for the next size up wing tube...tube fits socket tooo big.
Learning curves are expensive.

RE: Wing tube
I tend to wobble out the foam cores from trial fitting parts and end up having to use the Gorilla glue to correct this little problem. It really will expand and hold as much as you need and using the strips will keep it all aligned. I have just never tried using it for something that far off.
My next two builds aren't foam core wings but I want to make sure I have the tubes in hand before I drill out the holes for the sockets so everything will align correctly.
