Warped Horizontal Stab
Hi , I have just noticed that the starboard side horizontal stabilizer on my hangar 9 Hellcat is warped down a bit.
The port side is fine and the damage seems to have come during storage. How can i fix this? Is heating and bending an option or will some trim in flightsort this out?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Warped Horizontal Stab
Heating and bending is the only option.
Trimming in flight is for minor corrections.
IF the heating and bending doesn't work... you may have to rebuild the H Stab.
Happy Landings.

RE: Warped Horizontal Stab
I have removed BIG bits of warp from ARFs by just bending the part and heating the opposite sides covering. I have had them bad enough to need a second set of hands to do it. Living in a very warm climate the warp will sometimes start to come back when the plane is setting in the hot sun but taking it home and removing the warp again does the trick.

RE: Warped Horizontal Stab
Hey Guys, I tried the heating method with my hot air gun today and it worked a treat, thanks for all your input.

RE: Warped Horizontal Stab
A lot of the time when an ARF is shipped by boat the different temps and humidity in the hold or container will warp a lot of the parts and the heat gun seems to usually work out very well. This time of year even in my dry climate the shifting temps in my shop will give slight warps to some parts on my builds and I remove them during the covering stage.
I have removed some very bad warps on ARFs using just the heat gun.
Glad it worked out for you.
