Hmm, no updates in a while.
I enjoy tour build, and I was bummed to see first 47 died.
I wonder how heavy this one will be.
I'm working on mine, less scale details than yours, hoping to be under 28 lbs.

So the Chipmunk is almost done and I have two weeks left to finish her before I go back to work. I will be getting ready to start Angie back up as the Chippie comes to the end of its build, no break, going right in even if it is only a few hours a week.
I will be reviewing what I need to do to get back in the swing with Angie. Takes a bit to transfer the thought and to get back where I left off, but I am excited to get back to her.

Great thread, I am converting to Razorback and doing some small modification like hidden links etc.

Any good options on scale wheels or are expensive Robart 8 spoke only choice?

With the test flights complete and pretty much debugged the Chippie is done so Angie is on the bench. I will be starting with completing the left wing. I need to do the hinge pocket for the flaps and hinge it, install the landing light bay / Pitot tube, and then sheet the bottom.
Even though I was unsuccessful in testing the telemetry system on the chippie I am not giving up yet. I will make the wing telemetry ready even if I don't use it, at least I can some day if I figure it out.
I will resume the break in of the DLE85 bowman ring and I will bench test the Duel receivers and Telemetry. If it checks out I will install it on the Sbach for testing during the break in.
Some of the modifications I learned building the chippie will be used. I am considering installing breaks on the main gear simply as a scale feature as breaks will only be used to keep the plane stopped on the runway before take off and for taxing only. So I will install the air lines for that even if I don't do the breaks.
Nave lights might get an upgrade from the Rcxel optical pore mans version to a more robust lighting, that will be for the tip lights only. The Rcxel optical will be used for the landing light.
One other mod may be to redo the cowl and make the two side panels removable kind of like I did with the chippie, not hinged but held with 4 screws.
This would make installing the cowl and access to the engine so much easier, plus I can use the added weight up front from this feature.
Every thing ells is good to go and no need to modify. So the build continues at a slower pace then the chippie as I will be out of town on work during the week and only have evenings on the weekend to work on Angie, but I will chip away bit by bit.
One more option if I do not use the duel receiver and telemetry will be to use the smart fly board like I have in the Sbach. I like this set-up and it would eliminate any switches short of the pin flag and the nav lights, only charging jacks will be needed.
So on the down time I will be designing and plotting

Ok so it is time to get back to building the P-47. I am doing some changes to my setup procedure, things I learned from the chipmunk build. One thing I want to do is get all the servos and electronics working all together on the bench first (before installing into the frame).
I did not do this with the chipmunk and I had major issues.
Also I will be test flying all the equipment first too.
I just ordered a Piper Pawnee as a fun flyer and test bed for Angie. I will be mounting the DLE85 to the Pawnee for the remainder of the break in and to get it totally reliable and tested in all conditions possible. All the electronics like duel receivers, switches, telemetry and so on. This way I can debug it and learn how to use it long before I install it into the P-47.
I just bench tested all the servos that will be going into the Pawnee, all the flight control servos are the same configuration as the P-47. Two aileron servos, two flap servos, only difference is one elevator servo for the P-47, Pawnee has two. Ruder will be on a Y harness with the tail wheel servo, throttle, choke, engine kill and nave lights. So fare all the flight control servos are on receiver #1 and the axillary servos like choke, engine kill, nav lights, cowl flaps, oil cooler doors will be on receiver #2.
I am also testing the 3-Axis Gyro CORTEX flight stabilizer.
The telemetry is working, engine head heat, RPM, receiver voltage, external voltage 9for the second receiver, and yes the Pitot tube (air speed indicator).
All harnesses, switches and anything electronic will be bench tested as a whole then in the Pawnee. I am not taking any chances and I am going to be more diligent on this setup.
As for building once I get the chipmunk all settled into its new home and the Pawnee in service I will finish the left wing. That should be most of the construction short of mounting the wing.

Ok so I have the itch to get back to my build. Santa just informed me that I get a new plane for Christmas
I have been looking for an airframe to use as a test bead for all the gear I will be using on Angie. I think I have a plan. I just ordered a TFGS P-47 RTC. I will cover this plane with a cool scheme using ultraCoat, I can't stand the tar heal Hal scheme. I will install all the servos and electronics I will be using on Angie. I will mount the DLE85 and test that engine. I can still change engines if the DLE doesn't work out. So this will give me a P-47 to fly while I build Angie.
Should only take a couple weeks to put this together as I will only be doing minimum modifications
and run with all stock gear.
With work I won't be able to get into Angie till later this year, but she will get done next year
I am looking at schemes now.

Good for you on a new air frame the 85 will be a lot of extra pwr on that RTC. I will be watching to see your telly install. went to a bunch of fun fly's last season, and saw a bunch of good birds bite the dirt for lack of air speed on final's most were with the birds coming to words the pilots , I thought from what I saw most were better than avg pilots. I got a chance to T/T most and must thought a audio or a lite that would come on a bit above stall speeds would be a good thing.
I am still in the repair stage on my 2 birds so have not done the research on any of it still to many questions in my simple mind
