Tony,
I think it makes perfect sense. Meister will allow more detailed finish, as it can handle more weight.
I've seen them fly, and I've seen few build threads here and there. My buddy is going to build one with 3W 80CC twin in it. What power plant would you use?

I don't know on the power plant until I have the kit on the bench as it will have scale exhoust. I would like a twin, DA makes a 100cc inline but I don't like DA so I'm looking would love to put the EME120 but I don't think it will fit, even if I could afford a Moki I would not as they seam to be more trouble then the standard 2Strokes.
anyways I'm really looking forward to build the Meister, planning on a fall start.

Tony, the Meister is a great plane. I also have watched a couple of builds and they look great with all the detail.
Good luck and make sure you let us know when the build starts..........

Keith I have been watching the Meister P-47 ever since Mierc built one. I did not think I was ready that's why I started to rebuild my TFGS P-47 kit build but now I am ready. I want the RTC TFGS P-47 to practice flying with and I have finally found what I want to do in this hobby, I want to compeat in scale competitions with top gun being my goal so the Meister seams a good start. I will do a build diary of the Meister when I start, I will start compiling the kit and gear this year for a fall build. Thanks for your suport.

Thank you Gary, this means a lot coming from you, your builds will definitely be very helpful for me and I am excited to use the techniques I developed building three TFGS P-47s. I know I have a long ways to go as to competing at the level of top Gun but a start at regionals will give me the experience to some day get invited to Top Gun. So you say Meister has a 1/4 scale 122" Jug
no, ..........to big

I generally am of the same opinion. However...........my brother and I bumped ours heads on the way to the shop one day and decided it would be cool to have one of the only six 30% scale P-47 fiberglass kits ever produced in this country. Bought the thing, got it home, and started planning the build. Then we surfaced for air and our brains started working again. This thing was over 10 feet long I think and had a wingspan of over 12 feet. Now, I have a Decathlon with a wingspan of 15', but it doesn't weigh 125lbs!!!! I can take off in 50' and land that thing in 150' or less. We started thinking about the runway it takes to fly this thing, and there wasn't one close by. We calculated that we would need at least 1000' with plenty of open area at both ends, and even then, I would have to be down in the first 10 to 15% of the runway to get her stopped. Only one like that around here, and it is over an hour and a half away. We sold / traded it to a guy who also sold / traded it to another guy in Kentucky. I HAVE in person seen two of these fly (one do a dead stick belly landing, reeeealy awesome), and they are awesome, but not for me. Just too D big.

That is one big plane............ I would love to fly it. Not sure about landing it though.............
If I bought that my wife would throw my rear out the door and then sell all my planes...........
If you have the link to the video please PM it me but I bet Tony won't mind if you post it.

Really there is a such thing as to big, my 40% super cub is 9' long, sits 3' tall and has a 14' wing span. It bearly fits in my trailer. It is a pain to pick up and move around but once it is flight ready it is no problem as it rolls around and set up is very quic and easy.
The Meister P-47 is just the right size for me. Logistics have to be considered, building space, trailer, setup and flying field. I am a loner at times and set my own planes up by myself, start them and fly them without relying on anyone els, not that I don't get help when it's around but I don't count on it. I have come up with a setup system that allows me to install a belly mounted wing without having to flip the plane upsidown. This helps because fliping a 40-50lb plane around us no fun.
I like the one piece wing and prefer it as I like all my componets tied in and a solid wing.
Gary you are free to post what ever you want on this thread.
So today I got back to my RTC and I am starting to get the left wing cought up to the right wing. I cut out the wheel bay and fited the retracts. I am glueing in the rib duobbler and will get it ready for the bottom CF skin.
Once I get them both the same I will do the ailerons and flaps before I join the wing halves. I need to get this bird ready to cover in a couple weeks. I'm not going crazy with detal as I will save that for the Meister.

thanks TB. Here is that video. I think Dino is the pilot for this flight. You can tell it is a trim / shakedown flight. Very conservative. This Jug is all wood and was built from blown up 102"plans. As you see, it has no details like inner or even main gear doors. This gear is just a get her in the air gear, the production gear is Sierra and very nice. The production version is fiberglass and wood construction as stated below. I guess she flys even more gracefully than the 102" and lands even easier. Think about it though, that is a huge flat bottom wing there. Notice the wonderful military approach landing that Dino does. He does this better than anyone.

Tony I have the plans from Meister. Would trade you the plans for your airframe since your not going to finish it. I can come to Austin when I am done working in Oklahoma. I can be there around the end of the month possibly sooner. Let me know. You can e-mail me at [email protected]
I would like to see if your fuse would mate up to my wings. Then all I have to do is finish fiberglass. I have the robart gear.
Let me know your thoughts.
