Must have been something to take part in something like that. That was some pretty important work.

So back to business, I put the fuse up and aside, I am looking at the left wing to see what I need to do to bring it up to speed with the right wing. Looks like I need to do the carbon fiber hinge pocket for the flap and make the flap hinges. Once that is done then I can start to work on the wheel well. The right wing just needs to wait for the left so they can be joined before I do the bottom CF skins and install the gear.

I know, I know it is the ball on the end of the throttle lever(s) and when you want max power, you go "Balls to the wall"

I wonder how many would be pilots get in trouble that way? They push the throttle in thinking it will go fast but instead.... ARG! Its like a our transmitters, we pull the stick down to go up and push it up to go down!

One more day of work to go then I'm off for the next 11 days

I am planning on getting the wing done so I can start covering and detailing, with the Meister knocking on the for I need to get this plane done and in service. Once the flap is hinged it should move along at a good pace.

Construction resumes on the left wing.

The wheel well needs to be detailed and the flap hinges fabricated.

Other items will be the hinge pocket, I will lay that up today. The landing light and servo mounts.

The ribbing on the ceiling of the wheel well is solid carbon fiber rod. As in the full scale these are structural as this adds rigidity to the CF skin. After doing three builds of the P-47 I am perfecting my instal and methods. This will all come together in the Meister build later this year.

On the right wing I used a wood block to space the CF strips and they would stick often. I made a bras jig that does not stick.
the strops are first tacked with thin CA then as I tack the next, the previous gets glued from end to end, this helps in the jig getting glued in.

The CF rod is cut in bulk with a chop saw.

I will do the detailing a little different then I did for the right wing, should be easier and a better result.

Got a good start on the left wing. It usually takes a couple days to get in the swing after not building for a while?

I came up with a much easier way to apply the rivet details to the roof of the wheel well. The spacing was perfect for some 6.5mm styren strips. I first cut them to length then apply the rivets to the strip. They snap right in with no glue.

All the side panels are cut to fit and ready for detailing.
I am replicating the panels from the right wing.

I get the panels from Chad Viech.

With the ceiling done I will detail each panel then glue them in. This will complete the wheel well and all that is left is to install the air cylinder for the inner door.

This will be similar to what I do on the Meister but more detailed.
still need to install the strips in the smaller well.

I am so glade I did not use the robart gear, the Sierras are so much better and install more scale like with the tree spar wing, the location is much better.

The Sierra wheels fit with gobs of room left.

I will sheet the wing and leave the wells open ready for painting. Once that is done I will cut the gear doors and the bottom skin.

Thanks Bob, I'm not going overboard with this build as I will save it for the Meister. BTW I just purchased the Moki 180 for that

Left wing is almost caught up to the right wing. Got it sheeted, LE is on, wing tip and I'm working on the spars.

All I need to do is the flap hinges and I can join the wings.

Really need to get this plane done and in service, I have a scale masters qualifier to go to in June, then the Meister is slated to go into production as soon as this one leaves the line.

no going back here.

I joined the wings today. I prefer to work on the wing as a whole instead of two halves. I cut the front and rear spar from 1/4" ply and the center is 3/8" ply. It is all glued up and drying. I will work on getting all the sheeting done and then glass the center section.

With the wing joined I am getting ready to fit the wing to the fuselage so I can build the belly pan. I am using the carbon fiber skin from the prototype. I striped all the wood from it as this will be a better and lighter install.

I don't have the plans anymore so if someone can give me the location mesurments of the formers C3- C4 - that would be great.

The fit will be better if I frame it up to fit my wing and fuselage.

Thanks

T/b
When I built mine I used 1/64 ply as the between F 2A, and F2C, so from the plans, fwd face of F2C back to the face of F3C I get 6.85, and back to F4C I get 13.90, and again I used 1/64 ply as the spacer for F5E the aft angled blkd and the fuse blkd

Hope this helps

Cheers Bob T
