The wing is all done and ready for test flights.
Guns are installed, did not go all out just the stock guns that came with the RTC.
For lateral balance to offset the landing light I installed 1/4" steel dowels behind the nav light.
Lights are all glued in.
Next is to finish the fuselage, should have it all done and ready for testing by the end of next week.

Pushing to finish, I'm off all next week so I should be able to have her flight ready next week. Been finishing the detailing on the fuselage, rivets and fasteners. Once that is done then I can put her together, and not drop her this time and start balancing.

Bob I haven't balanced or weighed her yet, will do that today.
yesterday was just a setup day. I fueled her up for the first time and ran the engine. Got it tuned and running great. Still have a few things to get done before I can have it ready to fly.
I still need to lock in the axels, do the same on the gear doors, check a few things and she will be ready to go.

Tony,
Can you email me some high-res pics of the finished model? I am planning to put together a web site for my products in the near future and would love to feature your work.
Thanks!

So this build started a few years ago and the original plane was to be sports scale, simple and covered in ultraCote. Then it grew to have many bells and whistles. Glassed and painted and rivets to be applied. The prototype took flight at 37lb and the new DLE85 in it with 40lb of static thrust. Then it crashed on the tenth test flight and was a total loss.
Then the new build came to fallow with a few modifications and a bunch of salvaged parts from the prototype. Cowl, canopy, belly pan, gear doors, cockpit (although beat up), and a few other parts.
The second kit built sported a three spare modification as to move the main wheels to the correct scale location. With the deeper location in the wing the aluminum wheels fit with room to spare. Air cylenders were added for the inner gear doors to replace the servo actuated doors.
This kit had the fuselage all built and glassed, wings where 90% done and then the kit was shelved. A Miester was desired.
In December a RTC was purchased and the build was on as the original sports scale with ultraCote and no thrills. Really need a jug to fly and practice with. The kit built three spar wing was bashed to fit the RTC fuselage as all the main gear options where not working on the RTC wing. After 6 months Miss Fire was completed and sports a few of the original prototypes parts and features, the improved Fries ailerons for scale, the semi scale flap hinges but not fowler flaps. The tail feathers still have the scale pocket hinges. The carbon fiber belly pan was used as well as the cock pit from Chad Veich, the canopy and a few other parts like the landing light.
So this build has come full circle and the results are as expected. A well built sports scale plane, it is only 33lb so 4lb lighter then the prototype. It is ready for flight and should get the maiden in this weekend weather permitting. We are in a clash of high pressure so high winds in the 20s for a few days.
I would like to thank all of you who have followed me threw all these three builds. Your contributions, comments and general participation has helped me finish this plane.
A special thanks to Chad Viech for everything he has helped me with from the amazing full cockpit for the prototype (that is now in Miss Fire) all his detail work for the wheel wells, surface details and all those dam rivets, thank you, I could not have done this plane without your help.
Miss Fire is slated to compete at the Scale Master qualifier this June at Bomber field in the amateur beginner class.
After a short break the bigger Miester build will start, kit is still being cut so good timing as I need a good month still to get my flight routine down for competition.

Flight report
Today I got the first flight in with the help of Randy Larsen as my backup.
Flight #1
Rolled out to a south wind, slight SW cross, about 10mill. Got her moving and she tracked strait as an arrow as the tail lifted up throttle up. She staid on the ground, no typical noesing over that some show on take off. Rotated slowly climbing. A few down clicks, some to the right and she was flying. I crept her about half stick on throttle. Engine seamed to be good. I kept the gear down and made a few sercets and came in for a landing, no flaps. She was hot on approach but I was comitted and rusty so a small bounce and that slowed it down to a flair in for the landing still stopping 3/4 down the runway.
More to come.

Flight report
Second flight;
took off with more confidence, tracked really good, scale rotation. I reduced the throws on ailerons and flew on the low rate. Elevator still on high rate but might try low rates, one bounce to lead off speed and then landed fine. Still haven't tried flaps and will try next flight.
took the cowl off to tune the engine and inspect, all looked good but one screw on the sensor was loos and one almost backed out so thread lock and tightened them up, retuned engine and will go again soon, perfect conditions.
