Thanks Bob.

Moving on to building the fuse, I wanted to get the throttle linkage set up out of the way. So I built up a bellcrank design and no, that is NOT a popsickle stick. [&:] It sure looks like one, but it's fiberglass. I wanted some electrical insulation from the engine to the throttle servo. I have had ''Glitch'' problems before when I had no insulation between the two.

Boy is this a dumb question. I have been putting my engine mounts on with the triangular piece on the outside. Or, don't it make any difference.

Thanks Joe. We all hope you start building soon. It's pretty gratifying. [8D]

I bounced back to the wing to work on the bolt down wing set up. And it's not pretty. [] If you expect perfection here, you either belong in the "Scale Forum", or have a lot more time than I do. Besides. once I'm done sheeting and covering, you couldn't see it from Montana.

First I found some stuff, sort of ground a V groove in it to fit close to the leading edge, epoxied them in, drill a 1/4" hole all the way to the dihedral braces, sharpened some points on 1/4" oak dowel, and just glued them in. The reason for the sharpened points is an easy way to mark where they will go through up front. It's really easy.

A little more fill before the fiberglass tape thing.

Jumping back to the fuse, I think I have the side windows figured out.

Don't start answering your self. Great Job
The only thing I have seen so far is! the center of the wing has not been glassed. The way you have assembled the wing, and the way it should be built needs no glassing the braces installed right take the load, just adds weight. I have had them break at the side of the glass.
I'm ready fire away

Wheew! Thank God somebody showed up! I was starting to freak out! [X(]

I glassed the center section. I just did some filler action before glassing. I still have some more filling to do, and then final sanding on the wing. And trust me, this build will be strong. And maybe heavy, but it's a Kadet. You can put a cinder block in these things. lol

Thanks Bob. I have a question for ya, and everybody else. I'm having second thoughts on the Ultracote covering idea. To me the plane doesn't look like it should be covered in shiny plastic. It has a "Tundra" sort of look to it, a Bush plane. Solartex???

Don't worry about it just forge ahead.
The new shrinkable polyester painted looks pretty good, gives you the look of a fabric covered plane.

Nothing wrong with plastic film on a box trainer; but your chosen colors are a bit... outspoken, IMO. Hey, whatever floats your boat...

Excellent work. You're doing pretty much the same things I intend to do to mine. Good job on the throttle linkage. Four stroke throttle linkages, especially on ARFs, can be a major PITA; its amazing how many folks never think of this simple solution.

I too am curious why you "reversed" the support flanges on your motor mounts. Realistically, I think it makes no difference, but just wondering if you had a specific reason for doing so.

What displacement Saito is that? I was planning on an OS 52 Surpass for mine, but now I'm thinking that will be a bit light with all the mods/extra weight... especially when its on floats.

However subtle, I get your drift about the covering. It was for another build and it's a little too "Flamboyant" for a Texan huh? I have no artistic taste and will most likely be going with olive drab Solartex with some some sort of military insignias just in case my lifestyle comes into question.

The motor mounts. Hummm.... I have no other excuse. I was enjoying adult beverages and just messed up. I have other mounts and since found a Du-Bro pre made linkage I bought probably months ago. The Saito is a 56 as I have posted earlier and now I am feeling uncomfortable about my color choices on the covering. Record straight, here is one of my favorite songs.

Gary, keep up the good work and music video's as I am enjoying them. You're my "build fix" for the winter as this is the first time in a few years I don't have a winter project on the workbench...Just too many planes in the fleet and two college bound kids. For now it's just enjoying the flying from previous builds and waiting for warmer weather so I can start the float flying at the river. I hope you can include a maiden voyage video of this unique LT 40.

Cheers..Hutch

When choosing covering and colors, think about high contrast between dark and light more than color. On those overcast days you'll be happier. I think the yellow and green are too close together. For contrast you'll need some black, red or dark blue.

Your build log has me rethinking about what to build next. The first plane I built was a senior and the LT seem so much easier to build.

My SR Kadet is green and yellow, and I have no problem seeing or orienting with it. The wing is yellow, so that is the predominant color. That probably helps.
We (wife and I) call it my John Dear plane. I really need to put a John Dear decal on it.

Solartex may be a great way to go Gary, but I have to be honest about this; I personally have never used it so I would be the last person to give you an educated opinion on the subject.
