I like that idea!

We would have to meet in a central location though.

Gary
Why not just set up a day for Kadets to fly Not every one can get to a fun fly, When the day comes every one that can fly posts what they have done and pics. a Kadet fun fly that you do not have to travel MILES to participate.

Well, my Kadet LT-25-TM is no longer a Hangar Queen! Today seemed like a good day to leave the office early! A little wind, but right down the runway. And guess what...flew pretty much like a Kadet! It's been a while since I flew a kadet so my first landing approach, set up like I do with other planes, was a bit high...like 20' when she flew by. So another go around a lot lower and it was a greaser. Trim were basically OK, but I think I can use a bigger prop on the front motor. Had issues with my battery charger and the wind came up so I only got 1 flight in...but left in the car for tomorrow! Picture was from a few weeks ago...no photos from today's flight.

And the "Kadet Brotherhood Fly-in is a great idea. Set a date and time for an across the Nation mass Kadet Launch!

That is one wild looking LT25 Murphey. That has to be the ultimate in LT25 kit bashing!

Guys, as far as a Kadet fly in goes, I would suggest we break it down into regions. That would mean we would need regional volunteers/organizers in order to pull this off. Ill volunteer to help organize one in the Houston area and am hoping Ken would help also since we are near each other. Ill talk to my local club and see what happens.

Early June maybe?

Guys, if I might - a suggestion. Every year the control-line forum for Ringmasters ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11...m.htm#11150873 ) does a fly-in, much as is being planned here. They keep it simple - you have a Ringmaster, you fly it on whatever day is chosen for the fly-in, then report in as to who flew how many flights of what version of Ringmaster, where.

I fly in this fly-in every year - it's a lot of fun, even if you're completely by yourself. I might be the only one on the field where I am, but I'm flying with several dozen (maybe as many as a couple hundred) other guys at the same time across the country.

Just a thought.

Dave

Yeah they keep it simple and sounds like they have a lot of fun that way So how do they tally the flights?

OK this is a little (lot) off the above discussion but here goes.

<o></o>Not yet serious enough to start drawing plans, but I have been kicking around a possible design for a biplane Kadet (?) for several months now. Worked up a spreadsheet to do the math. I am too darn lazy to do the equations more than once. <o></o>

<o></o>What I come up with is 70” wings with a chord of 10.5. 1470 square inches total wing area. A bashed Kadet SR body, taller to keep the wings a chord apart. The SR is only 8” deep, would need to be 10” to 12” deep for proper wing separation. With only a 10” deep fuse it would need to have the bottom wing with reverse gull wing configuration to achieve the needed wing separation. That would look cool but be a real pain to build. Stick construction to stay true to the SR. Besides I love the bones of a stick built. Fully open wing structure like the SR has i.e. no leading edge sheeting. Silk and dope, no other choice. Oh and a tri tail i.e. three vertical fins.<o></o>

<o></o>And for power the three small engines I currently have a .34 in the nose and 2 .25s slung under the top wing. Yep a tri motor biplane. Yeah 4 strokes would be way more cool. In the .30 to .40 range but I sure don't have the money, and I got the other motors.<o></o>

<o></o>So roughly the size of a Kadet SR.<o></o>

<o></o>Use the Kadet foil.<o></o>

<o></o>None of the Kadet’s that I am aware of have a 10.5 wing chord. My cheap @%#$ printer won’t let me scale. I guess I could plot a scaled down Kadet SR foil but that would be a pain in fanny. Would if I had to.<o></o>

<o></o>I have been mentally playing with the design for maybe 6 months now, and have been toying with posting for 2 weeks now.<o></o>

<o></o>Would it still be a Kadet? Any thoughts?<o></o>

<o></o>Ken<o></o>

I soloed on a Mk 2, many years later built a LT 40 thinking to teach my wife how to fly. Yeah, right, she never tried it, but I enjoyed it for a long time, on wheels, floats, dropping parachutes and towing. Probably the easiest plane to build and fly I ever had.
