My Feedback: (6)
I blame my addiction on Comet specifically this kit which I purchase around 1970: If you look closely it bears a striking resemblance to my profile picture. The profile is the 1938 production model the kit is the 1937 prototype. I bought this kit again a few years back on Ebay for about 1000% more than I bought for the first time. I copied the plans and rebuilt several time just for fun. So far something has always happened to it before I got it covered and attempted to fly it. I'll probably try again at some point.

I have a Corsair and B-17 half built. Been giving serious consideration of making the B-17 RC now that there are light weight servos and motors and batteries, but to do so would require surgery to whats already built, but haven't given up, yet. After seeing the 1/48 scale HH one, now I KNOW the Guillows will work.

Hi All,
My Kadet senior Build.
I decided to do just a few modifications to the Kadet. The first is to add ailerons, the second is to add wing bolts, with a dihedral of 1 1/2 inches at one wing tip.

WOW! At the rate you're going, she's gonna be in the air by Christmas (or maybe Thanksgiving). DEFINITELY looking good!!!!!!

Bumpie, what you did to your wing is very similar to what I'm going to do with a MkII wing. I'm dropping the dihedral to .5" per wing and changing the ailerons from strip to barn door as I don't like torque rods or long movable surfaces. I'm still not sure how long the ailerons will be when done but I am planning on 25% cord for the width. I figure that should be more than enough since I can always program my transmitter to limit the servo throw to a moderate level

Good looking work Bumpie.
i love building with magnets. I have to make some more fixtures someday.
And you are right. Sticks are just really satisfying to build with.
Right now all or almost all of my plane building is setting in storage and has been for a few months.
I finally had to build. So I got my old balsa building board out and I am using pins to put a new wing together for my Kadet jr / "ODO" on the bed.
I have the board in my lap while sitting on the bed and the other end laying on a dresser draw that is partly opened. All of the supplies on the bed behind my wife's laptop and my night stand.
ACKWARD!!! Yep but it felt so good to get a few ribs done.
Been work my hinny off on projects for my mother. plus I have been building a TV antenna from scratch. Works pretty darn good, but I know I pump it up more. Even with sites that do much of the math for you it still made me pull a few hairs out. But that5 is day work. At night I am going to be building in bed!

Hi all;
Magnets insures a straight build, and also you can set most of the wood in place before adding any thin set to the joints.
@Hydro Junkie, I'm on the same page as you are, when it comes to torque rods, servos mounted in the wings makes an easier build especially with barn door ailerons.
As you can see I made my ailerons with seven panels wide, way, way more then the wing needs to rotate, but it looks good
pics of the wing bolts system I'm trying, not that I don't like rubber bands or their less inferior, I just like the way the bolts look.
I used four bolts instead of dowels in the front because I wanted the header attached to the wing like in the plans, again it looks better and more secure, I hope.
Braces for the front wing bolt ply, will add two more going opposite ways in the windshield area

Thank you Bumpie, I may do the same. How strong are nylon bolts? I've used them on the trailing edge with dowel's in the leading edge but not four nylon bolts.

The box is almost empty, just more sanding, sanding and then some more sanding before covering.
@Dwayen Four nylon bolts are used on many kits with a high wing, one of then called a Robin Hood 80" or 99" which I just bought the 80" kit, I'm sure to get a beating from the wife when the box shows up next week on my door step, but I'm a fast healer.
Braces up front of cab should be plenty of support for the wing, I hope.

Too bad I can't say the same for my Citabria. Started it in October, and have one wing panel at the first stage, and started the second panel, almost at the first stage, just need to finish gluing, then add the aileron before I can pull it off the board to sand the leading edge and front top spar, then it will be at the first stage. My first builders kit where it is a box of sticks and a few die cut sheets of rib parts. When this one is done, I may tackle a Pica P-40 from just the plans. Or start the B-25 Ziroli from plans.

Geez, that really IS a nice covering job you've got there - even the nose cheeks are perfect. Nicely done indeed.

Kadet Brotherhood!
Count me in, Guys and Girls! I just stumbled onto this forum after searching for "The World's Largest Kadet Senior" online. I've been flying them for YEARS! My first R/C plane was a kit-built Kadet Senior, with an O.S. FS60 four stroke. I still have my second one after all these years, even though the first one met with an untimely demise when it got behind me, and went in before I could turn around! (I still mourn that one, as I put TONS of hours into it!) I have four currently, including a slightly scaled-up one with an O.S. FS120 Surpass on the nose! My second one is over 25 years old, (O.S. 70 powered, tail-dragger with cowl and wheel pants) and still flies GREAT! I've owned several LT-40 models, a couple of Senoritas, and an LT-25! I bought my oldest Grandson a Kadet EP for his Birthday, and it flies GREAT, too! I would like to see the largest one around, if anybody has info or photos of one. I've often dreamed of having one built around a Zenoah G-62 or GT-80, of maybe even a 3W-150! (these are engines that I'm familiar with and have "in stock") Give me a member number and please post those photos! Thanks in advance, Blair
