Well shoot! Can I join? I have built a Senior two Senioritas and finished a Seniorita that was crooked as a politician. I only have one pic and thats of the crooked seniorita. Every time you changed power settings you had to retrim the plane. But it sure made me like this design. I plan on getting an LT-25 I just haven't made it to the HS yet. Maybe tommorow. So can I be a member? But then again like Groucho Marx said "I wouldn't join a club that would have me for a member". Oh heck, I will still join.

Yo! Looks like a lot of guys had birds in the air this weekend, I wasn't the only one - and that's a GOOOOOOOD thing!!!! My Kadet Mk-II was the only plane in my stable that didn't fly - still waiting for the new radio to arrive and I'm not taking undue chances with a new plane and malfunctioning radio.

Flight Risk - Welcome to the Brotherhood! Got you listed with #141. Took a look at your write-up on the new Sport. Nicely done indeed. Congrats on a successful, UNEVENTFUL maiden.

ratshooter - And a hearty welcome to the Brotherhood for you - y'got #142. "...a Seniorita that was crooked as a politician" - love it!! That must be some plane to fly. Groucho was a master with words. I remember one of his more famous lines all too well "...say the secret word, win $100...". Yeah, remember that line, can't remember what I had for lunch today (and YES, I'm really that old - watched You Bet Your Life for a long, long time).

Anyway, here's the Brotherhood as I've got it today:

You have got to love any airplane you can build crooked and it still flies well!

Flyer I didn't build the plane. It was framed up but uncovered. The fuse was a little crooked and always kinda dog tracked through the air. It never would do a loop without screwing off to the side. I made it with a bolt on wing. I tried not to cut the center wood too much. Well I didn't have a good glue joint. I was doing a spin and the front of the wing pulled loose. It stayed attached by the rear wing bolts but was at a 45 degree angle to the plane. I watched in horrified fasination as it parachuted down at a nose down attitude. When it passed the 100 foot mark I was sure it was going to stay together. And it did. Other than breaking some of the ribs the only other damage was it scratched my new blue spinner. The repairs took about an hour.

I had it in the back of my truck going to the school I flew at. Just as I looked in the rear veiw mirror it got sucked out and slid down I-35 and slid to the shoulder of the road. Again the damage was slight and it got repaired.

So after a while I sold it at Roys hobby shop. The last I heard the new owner had a fly off and I don't know if he ever found that plane. That plane DID NOT have a charmed life. The next three I built and they were perfectly straight and flew like a sultans magic carpet. I wish I had picks of them. Randy Randolf took a lot of photos of one I had bashed and I beleive it made it into a model magazine somewhere but I never found out where. Build the fuse just like suggested in the manuel and they come out straight.

Skylark thanks for the number. I am happy to be in this club. Also my aunt was on that show with Groucho. All she really ever said about it was that he really was a dirty old man.

[QUOTEStill it proves Kadets are hard to kill! ][/QUOTE]

Naw, just goes to show the more patches a plane has on it the better it flys.

The law of Kinetic Ugliness states that the uglier an airplane is the more forcefully the earth repels it, there for, the better it flies. Over the years I've taken this from a abstract theory to a fundamental design principal.

I thought I would add a website which has inspired me. Kit bashing of Kadets. The home page also has other cool aircraft stuff.

The law of Kinetic Ugliness states that the uglier an airplane is the more forcefully the earth repels it, there for, the better it flies. Over the years I've taken this from a abstract theory to a fundamental design principal.
That would explain why my buddy's Dornier D1 flys so well!

Oh I dont know about that, the Deweyville I have is one ugly bird, and flies just as ugly. Then again I may have been overpowering it.

Wait! Oh, I guess nobody gave you the message. There is NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH POWER.

Although I do have to admit there are times when more power just does not change the way this or that airframe responds but does bring more weight that becomes an impediment to some parts of the performance envelope.

(He says while putting the .32ABC on the .19 sized model...)

Well not when you execute a perfect one pointer on a big rock. It just drive the engine bits back farther.

Something learned from owning and flying full-sized airplanes, "There is no such thing as to much power....... until you are paying for the gas."
I have never been able to argue with that.

Hmm DLE20 on a 40 sized plane? I picked up the plans for the plane over the weekend in Toledo, and it has a 40 2 stroke listed for power.

Umm yeah I do believe I overpowered it, would explain why the rudder pushrod came apart. Now putting a 70 on the LT40, Might be a bit much, but OH not me, I may just see if I can fit the 91 on it and see if I can hang it on its prop. Gonna need bigger tires.

My TF Cessna 182 project calls for a .60 to .91 and I actually did behave myself (this time) and went with a .75 Super Tigre. Granted the ST probably has more power than the .9 when the airplane was designed but I did restrain myself. On the other hand my SIG 1/5th Cub has a ,80 Saito on it. I even managed not to need to lengthen the nose doing it too!

That was a cool link you provided Flight Risk. Does anyone remember the 16 foot senior that someone scaled up? I think it was featured in Radio Control Modeler. I don't remember much else about it but I think it was black in color.

I'd actually be willing to offer another observation, concerning "placement". I've found that it doesn't drive the engine bits backward as much as it drives the balsa bits outward - - and that's where the REAL fun lies.

It might of been better if the rock had at least split.

It doesn't matter if the rock hits the airplane or the airplane hits the rock it's going to be bad for the airplane!
