I'm lucky I'm the one who remembers the exact date, she has to ask me when she forgets!

I made it tail numbers on one of my planes. She actually liked it and it later became a personalized licence plate on the car. It's the birthdays I'm still struggling with

Well damn, now I dont feel so old, we hit our 10th in February and our 10th/11th in September. We got married twice, so two wedding anniversaries for us, the second is our first since it is also the day we met.

Wonder how many read this and say ***? huh?

Nah! We knew you were nuts all along. Now she's stuck with you, no trade in value!

My Kadet Senior is almost ready to maiden. Trouble with the onboard glow batteries prevented it from happening today.

Yeah, that's one beautiful plane. She's gonna be just fine. Y'know, I've occasionally contemplated onboard glow but was never really sure enough it would help without messing with the radio. I fly 72MHz only - any problems, any time?

Aw, I've got all y'all beat with the anniversary date - 21 June 69 - and before any of you dirty old men comment, yeah, I know.

Now, we got married in Syracuse NY and headed right to my next USAF assignment in Anchorage AK (Elmendorf AFB). First anniversary has actually turned out to be the one we both remember the best, and have always had the most laughs over. If you've ever been to Anchorage, you know that the city sits at sea level. Our apartment sat at 500' above sea level and we decided to have a candle-light dinner on the mountain-top (something around 4000'), at midnight, on the 21st.

June 21st is the longest day of the year.

In Anchorage, that means the mountain top sees the sun 24 hours/day.

So, we sat on the mountain at midnight, toasting our "lower-48" stupidity, and reading a newspaper with no lighting necessary. Candles, to this day, still sit in the box with the original seal intact.

Sheesh!

..

BUT IT WAS HUGE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. Sig does a nice job with this ARF. I've never flown a Kadet. I'm looking forward to it.

Onboard glow works well with 72. This unit was originally installed in my 1/4 Spacewalker with a Magnum 1.60 twin, on 72.. I put it in my Kadet because it was sitting idle. I use the units from Electro Dynamics, which are a snap to install and set up. http://www.electrodynam.com/store/EDR103.shtml

I guess that I should have paid more attention to battery maintenance.

I'll look into it in the morning, but it's a simple matter to disconnect it, and use an ignitor until I can replace the battery pack.

Dave the wife and I both had a good chuckle from your story. But I would say it was lower 48 ignorance not STUPIDITY. That's reasonable to not know. I can just emagine your comments to each other upon discovering your faux pas

So here is a question from this Dirty-Ole-Man.....You were all alone on a mountain top in June with your beautiful wife on your first anniversary drinking champagne and all you did was read a newspaper???

I love the name of your airplane Tom! Maybe that is the problem with the onboard glow batteries, they are having a "Senior Moment"?

duhhhh,

no.

Actually, I always kinda thought the 'mile-high club' had to do with airplanes. Guess not, but then, we still weren't quite a mile up either.

..

Mt. Rainier solved that issue, a couple years later.

Yup, and she's got the papers to prove it (I typed them myself).

Shoot, after 45 years with me, I should think that would be prima facia proof of the issue.

Sounds like my wife!

I'll never forget the piece of wisdom my father in-law got from his father. His father spoke with a heavy German accent being an immigrant so use your imagination.

Son, you will find in marriage the man is the boss!
The man makes all the big decisions and wife makes all the little decisions!
(Along about this time his mom came out of the kitchen holding a rolling pin.)
However, once she is thru making all the little decisions there aren't any big decisions!
(His mom then went back into the kitchen after his pop finished.)
