On driving the ailerons, have you thought about driving them from the LE, with a push-rod going vertical to the servo-arm? Not much possibility for slop in that set-up.
Oh no doubt on the effects of the sun here, I won't use much if any on the wings. I've used black before and there hasn't been any trouble that way. We fly from 4:30-5:00 am and knock off around 9:00 or 10:00 because of the heat during the summer months. So the sun is low in the sky, the rest of the year it's not that bad. Although I would mention that it is a real bother to cover a plane in my garage during the summer, everything sticks to everything at 110 degrees. LOL

I do like your thought on driving from the leading edge. I'll have to think on that for a while. I haven't started finishing on the wing so changes are still possible. My minds eye sees a rod through the center of the chord and bend at a right angle at the leading edge for attaching to the linkage if I understand your suggestion.

This is more what I was thinking. I'd use ball links for attaching the controls. If you know someone who flies Heli's they could help getting a slop free control hookup.

Pink and purple, my daughter will most likely want her LT-25 that she is getting for her birthday to be those colors. I can see one in Pink with purple scallops on the leading edges, and on the nose. Wouldnt be too bad looking.

Aha! NowI see the linkage. Been trying to keep up with this design, that drawing helped (me) a lot. Yeah, I (personally) like it - and the strength of the whole thing. Really, shouldn't be all that hard to nearly eliminate slop altogether with this set-up as long as the servo was pretty much in the center of the aileron.

Pink & Purple - yeah, I like that too (believe it or not), especially if you used white (maybe a "pearl" white) as a "separator". I can see where that would actually not look bad at all (but then, I'm an OLD man who reportedly has rather bad taste in colors, not to mention humor).

True, but your building skills redeem your other short comings.

The only pink in my shop is my ironing board. I use the board to cover models, or work on finished models that I don't want scratched.

I'm going to look at that, your right the leverage on the aileron would be maximized this way, The servo horn would have to be long there is going to be a lot of travel at the LE of the aileron. I'm not sure there is enough clearance for the servo but maybe I could go with a slimline, I do use ball links where ever I can. Thanks for staying with me on this.

Worked on getting the engine in today. Very tight fit when you turn the engine.

This drawing is pretty close to scale. As you can see there are too many things in the way to make the idea work. The wing is too narrow and has a lot of solid material at that location. If I drop below the wing there just isn't enough room to make it work. Thank you...I really appreciate the input, almost all of my best ideas were someone else's first.

Someone asked me a while back if I was going to put brakes on this thing. Obviously so I could do like the big boys doing short field takeoffs. I didn't think it would be worth it then but recently I saw a really easy home made version and I may just end up having brakes after all!!!Another example of someone else's idea becoming mine!!

WOW! Yeah, I'll bet she floats like a hummingbird. With that much wing you could sit under her, in the shade - outstanding. For sure, for sure - gotcha logged with #159. Welcome to the SIG Kadet Brotherhood!! Glad y' made it.

Ahhhhhhhh, are you sure? Of course, I've never REALLY tested the Brotherhood with my humor - maybe it's time.

Here's on of my better ones:

The fattest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Cumference.

He acquired his size from too much pi.

Oh, yeah - forgot to list the rules for Dave's humor - - always laugh at the first one, because I DO tell 'others'.

Which is why Sir Cumference needed PI to make more radius and room for the additional knights.

My head hurts.

It is still some time before I can get back to building. I am still getting the inside of the house in order since moving in. Taking a pause in the garage making it a suitable shop with a decent work bench. And then mount my work desk on wheels. So it is going to be a bit before I resume building. Plus I have 2 active builds.

But I still got airplanes on the brain. And lately mods I could make to my SR. oinoyou with his 2 foot longer wing span SR just added to my brain storming.

I have been thinking how to mod my SR to a low wing. After looking at my SR I came up with the thought of a 2 piece wing and a joiner spar passing through the lower fuse section. And then after seeing oinoyou with his 2 foot longer wing, well it made me brain storm even more. A pair of 1 foot panels could be added to the end of each normal span wing panel with a joiner spar.
Could have a normal span SR and a stretch SR that way.

So many projects I want to do, So much other crap than build I have to do. Dang it.

No little ones here Mike (other than four footers (cats, dog)). Just three adults. Bring a little one in and,,,,,,,,,,, and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and I will run away. Yeah that is what I will do, I will run away from home.

One last issue before I can close the wing.

Leading edge slats. I've read a bunch on these things and the jury might still be out on their effectiveness, especially on a small model. Couple that with their small structure, will they build straight, how to attach them, what material to use, could they screw up the basic wing effectiveness. This has been a tough one. But I think I have enough of an idea to start with and see how it develops.

The LT25 wing is not very thick and the leading edge has a pretty shallow rise. Slats are supposed to match the original leading edge profile on the outside so as to not change the basic wing design. They create a large opening at the bottom of the wing tapering down to a smaller exit as close to the top of the airfoil as possible to accelerate the air where it would normally separate at high angles of attack. All that combines to make for a pretty thin slat on this wing. (See picture)

I'm going to try my best idea today and I'll either take pictures of the process or scrap the idea all together. There is no question the wing is a good one just the way it is. I think my incentive is the "cool factor" more than anything else.

Hi BigTeeEldorado Could you do another scan of your LT25 airfoil section and either post it or pm it for me? I need the entire scan from LE to TE. Either the sheeted center section or preferably the the out rib section that is not sheeted. Obviously both would work.

I can adjust the size it prints out at pretty easily. This relates to my previous post about brainstorming and one sometime back (3 or four months ago for a tri motor bi plane). Doing some more.

I am going to be tied (figuratively) to my recliner for 72 hours next week after a CT Myelogram, so I hope to figure out DraftSight and do some designing. Other wise I will go out of skull from boredom.

Oh wait I may already be out of my skull............................... Beet ya to the punch Mike, Dave
