Blue skies, Mike!

I feel the same way. So many have passed on recently in the news, but hearing about Mike hit me as if I lost a family member too.

@jsparky

I used to fly a lot of gassers, the thing that makes the EI fail is heat. In your setup it looks like your EI is covered with foam, I would make it so it could lose some of the heat.

BTW you can cover my plane anytime!

May I have #201? That's my house number. I've never flown a Kadet, but I love them. I have a Kadet kit that I have not started and I have a Spadet that I'm modifying to be a low winger that is about half finished. My FB always has a Kadet and I know once I get back to flying full time, I will always have a Kadet in my hangar. Years and years ago, I had a very small hobby shop in my home town and I always loved dealing with Sig. Great company!

Hey Patrick!! For sure, #201 is all yours. Welcome, FINALLY, to the SIG Kadet Brotherhood!

Had to look up the Spadet to see what you were talking about - yeah, I've led a rather sheltered life. That's an interesting plane and I can't wait to see the maiden report on it.

So! With the "big snow" coming here, to the East Coast (brrrrrr), here's the SIG Kadet Brotherhood, as I've got it today:

Hey Dave (aka skylark-flier).
Wondering how you are doing, surviving the big storm?
In Between rain systems here. I wore shorts to plant a new fence post today.

You won't be laughing when half of the Land of Fruits and Nuts falls into the ocean.

Well I really wasn't laughing, more like teasing, oh wait I was gloating
Well heck having to drop a fence post is not exactly something to gloat about is it?

Your description is pretty much correct. Unfortunately they all seem to gravitate to government. Plenty of real people here, especially you head to the hills. Love the weather but Do hope to leave after mom goes.

Here, in the sunny and warm north country, I've been grilling.

He didn't show the pictures of him wearing baggy shorts, a t-shirt, and sandals because the blue skin blends too much into the snow!

Are you prophetic, or had the coast already started falling before your post?
"California is downhill because everything loose ends up there". I loved it when I was there.

I was born in San Diego and lived in Concord until I was 10, it was great, but that was in the 50's. I'm going to vacation driving the length of the coast next year, but I kind of think it's a Paradise Lost.

I know exactly what you mean, when my No. 2 son moved near Wichita KS I got the idea of going past my aunt's old house we use to visit a lot when I was a kid. Not only was the house gone but the street was completely gone too when the highway was widened. Now I look at the street view in Google maps and so many places I remember as a kid are totally unrecognizable. It truly is Paradise Lost.

Y'all are quite funny, really! Haha, haha, haha. Now, who's volunteering to come here and dig me out???????

No, seriously, all's well here. We got 23.5" and it took 2 rounds with the snowblower to get it all out of the driveway but it really wasn't all that bad. It all pulled out of here by Saturday evening and Sunday I was also grilling burgers (neener neener neener, Tom!). Today the temp's already in the mid 40's and the snow's dropped by nearly half - will probably be back to flying by the weekend.

Dave, I hope you didn't try to clear it all at once. My coworker did and he was sick all the next day from too much physical stress. He realized his mistake after the fact.

I saw a Cub on skis the other day, though it was a real one and flying over my house.

What's all this "Paradise Lost" talk? You guys just don't know what paradise is. Try driving up Hwy 101 or around the "Cascade Loop". The views on either drive are fantastic and, if you bring a significant other along, you will probably be asked to stop often for pictures

Naw, no skis on my planes. However, after this morning's perusal through the threads I decided to take a couple planes out anyway and see how they'd do. The Kadet & Eagle II got the nod and both did just fine on the snow. It got so warm here today (something over 45) that the snow settled and hardened - they were both riding right over the top of it. The Kadet DID leave little scars in the snow when touching down but the Eagle didn't.

Had a great time!

Oh, yeah. As far as clearing the snow went - there were 3 rounds total, forgot about #1 which was half-way through the storm. That one took about 8" off. Second was right after it ended, and #3 was the morning after - after the town had plowed my driveway shut for the 3rd time.

Paradise lost for me happened in the back seat of a 79 LTD Wagon. Damn those were good times.

I knew that was a setup, or it would have been Paradise Found.
I had a '70 something Ford Country Squire with a 429, that was a big car, RV's get better gas mileage then it did.

Yeah we had a 77 Country Squire before that. It was a big car, larger than most SUV's of today. Could put full sheets of plywood and drywall and close the tailgate, something not even my pickup can do.
