Ok so here is something for you to think about.. I have a hanger 9 twin otter.. well I had trouble taking off until I talked to a guy in our club who is a mechanic that worked on the real one.. so... lets say the flaps go down 12 degrees on take off and the ailerons drop 2 degrees as well..that is how the real one does it.. mix in flaperon with the flaps for some serious lift..

if you want to fly this thing to a stop and land that is how to do it..

BTW.. this mixing is tricky with a spectrum radio.. I have a taranis frsky now and it is easy

I have one of those too. Never had a problem taking off, just landing! LOL I always wind up slamming it down. I found that using 8000mah 3S with the Eflite power 25 motors, the plane has plenty of power to get off the ground, and gives it good flight time at 1/2 throttle, though you have to stay ahead of that plane at 1/2 throttle or it could fall out the sky. I don't have a lot of time on the plane though, so not fully up on its flight characteristics.

Mine was given to me already built and powered. To change to glow would have been a major undertaking since the nacelles were already glued on. I actually like it with electric because on a flyby it sounds just like the real thing since they are turboprops.

I dont know what happened but the other brothers didnt recognize me and I enlarged my seior plans too 112 inch wing the largest Kadet out there and that was about the time I joined the universe. Can I be a number any number thank you for the post

Hey Richard did you get any damage last month with the high winds they had out by Goodland? My son's father in-law had the garage knocked 3 feet off the foundation and the roof lifted off.

here I a'm again with no number .Took out the garden sent tomato plants two blocks away .The fence came down first.My neighbors tree(thank God) scraped my house and inundated my front yard. Couldnt get out my front door. A few shingles thats about it .Could have been worse .Not a good day for flying.Even a kite. Richard

@ skylark-flier ill be sure to update everyone with the maiden results. Still a ways away, made some modifications. Did away with the solder ends on the ailerons and went with a 2-20 all thread rod sooooo much nicer, also got 48" push rods to replace the nyrod. had a rough spot in the middle of it (noticed when i went to pull it through the fuse) and got the gear made up used 1x1/2 aluminum flat bar with a 4' tire.
@ soarrich thanks i was going for a different spin on the LT, the guys in my club thought it was an ARF, figured I was too young to be building a kit.

I had the same issue with my rudder pushrod, made for interesting flying when the rudder would stick. Replaced it with rod from servo back to rudder.

She loves flying on the simulator and thought she'd like to try the real thing. I plan on covering it with silk and dope and using an OS .35. May be I'll do a build thread.

Yeah Bill I don't know if there is a better trainer plane out there. There may be a couple that might be equal to the Kadet but as for better...well I don't think so. With your help I'm sure your daughter will solo quickly. Cheers Arnie

Hey guys, Looks like it is time to do some aileron repairs to my LT-40. Looking to put in dual servos, so where in the wing should I put them? Center of the aileron, or should I go overboard and split the ailerons, make the outer portion the aileron, but larger, and make some flaps on the inner portion? Looking to make it more, unusual. It already is a not so normal trainer, and I want to go one step beyond and make it do things it isnt supposed to.

I would go with the center of the existing aileron I don't think a flap would gain you anything except a tendency to float in midair at slow speeds.

Well, that is sort of what I am looking to do. Add some STOL to it. Even better, land it going backwards.
