I agree with you Jim! (Even though we both know he is stalling to keep from flying this hanger queen.)

Is your ignition the newer one for 8.4v? If it's the older one rated for 4.8 a 6v battery will be too much for it. Are you using the plug that came with it or a new NGK CM-6? I have had 2 ignitions go bad on my DLE 20's and they were replaced no charge by Tower.

"OK", someone thinks I'm stalling, ha ha, the only thing stalling around is the weather, thunder storm just passed and has rained all day but now the sun is out, yesterday morning it snowed and then rained the rest of the day, " it has not been nice", even the wind is to strong for my CL kite, the only thing flying is other peoples garbage. Next week ?.

raptureboy I have the 8.4v module I think I can isolate it with the next running and watch the servo, even when it surges it's a smooth one and idle is great so I don't think it's a serious problem, I do need to eliminate the servo or location of it first and go from there.
By the way the DLE carb is a Walbro copy and Walbro kits fit them, just need the cross reference. I also understand the Rexcel ignition is better also and at the same time there isn't much bad said about DLE. I'll get it solved, may become an expert by the time I'm done, ?

Leroy, we may be teasing about your weather delays but you will have the last laugh in August when we are temps above 100 degrees!

These engine things can be a real pain in the butt. I have an old homelite weedwacker I bought 25 yrs ago, still with the original spark plug and I leave fuel in it all wnter in an outdoor shed and every year I pull it out and with a few pulls it fires right up and I'm off. Now why can't my airplane engines be so trouble free?

Right, I never thought of that. I ain't never had to pull the screen on a blower or weed whacker, or rebuild a carb, or file a reed block, or.........

Right about the weed whacker and same goes for the blower, 9yr's old, same plugs and never a problem starting in the spring, to top that off I have never touched the needles, go figure.

"Now back to my engine", I have just ran it for another hour and not one problem, the only thing it did was burn gas. I did a little more fine tuning and it really runs great, idles at 1500 RPM and has a very smooth transition. I may never know what caused the surging and that bugs me some. It's going back in the plane just as soon as I get another muffler, mine leaks around one tube making a mess that will end up in the cowl. Valley View knows about it as of this morning, I expect another as they got a picture also You would think that by now someone would know how to build one that don't pool oil and crap in the bottom of canister, I guess stupid is bliss and we buy it. I need a Tig welder

That's one thing I don't like about the new DLE engines, they come with a short nipple and a plastic pipe. Better if they came with a long aluminum pipe you could cut down if you wanted.

I forgot to add that there may be favorable weather late next week, it won't be 100 deg. stuff but if it quits raining and blowing I may get this not to be hanger queen in the air. I really enjoy time at the field, it's my most favorite place to go during the flying season which can be long or short and we have to make the most of the good days when we get them.

Wish all of you a great spring and summer flying season, have a fun for all

Getting close Leroy, I love the tail wires. You may want to recheck the CG one last time since you put them on, better safe than sorry! ( I suspect that they didn't add too much weight)...

"Oh I got news, it's all bad". We have some of the craziest weather here that I have ever seen, patterns that create wind and rain with plenty of both, add the yard work and there hasn't been much opportunity to fly for anyone. Headed South for two weeks to see our kids and theirs on Thurs., weather may be more to my liking by the time we get back.

Know what you mean Leroy, we have been plaqued here in NH with the same type of weather as well. If its sunny it's windy, if it's not windy it's raining. Sometimes we get the wind AND the rain! Keep us posted...

Not surprised you said that, weather is screwball all over the world and it's snowing in Denver not to mention the rip ***** through out the corn belt. I guess things in Idaho pan handle arn't that bad, I expect to still have a home when I get back and thank God for that.

Looking at all the different places you guys live there isn't much uniform weather any place, well except for the south west which is an oven, guess I will get a taste of that seeing I'm headed there tomorrow. May just make things here feel real good.

Well , the weather for Sydney tomorrow and the weekend is light winds , sunny and 22 C. Light winds from the North so that is straight down the runway. Might takes a days leave tomorrow.

I think there has been 2 real good presentations building the 1/4 SW 11, I got the impression that some of you had one to build and was wondering if there is an intent for someone to do a thread build of this really cool plane any time soon.
I realize it's flying season and present builds are really slowed down but I would like any advanced notice of an impending build if you have one planned.

Thanks, Leroy

I wish I was going to build a 1/3 SW. I can't believe I let it slip through my fingers! Could have had it for $200 if I had just offered it to the guy.
