Thanks for your interest. I thought this thread was just about dead, but I think I got most of the answers I needed to start this build. (Thanks Everyone!) Right now I’m getting ready to place an order with tower for all the “stuff” I’ll need for this build. This is my first build in many years. So I’m starting from scratch. It’s amazing the things that get lost when you move. I will keep you informed as this build progresses and post some pics as I go. Thanks again.

I have the big stick 60 with a 120 4 stroke. If you are going glow I highly recommend it. It has great speed, power, and torque, it is a great flyer.

I know that it's still early days yet but have you decided on what you are going to use for power and which landing gear arrangement you plan on using.

I would love to hang a nice 4 stroke on this plane, but they are over budget for this project. Maybe something for the future. Looking to go economy for this one.

Karolh
Right now I’m planning on trike gear for now. But that might change, depending on the engine I manage to get. I have a buddy looking to off load a ST .90 for a good price. But I’m not sure if that would be a good fit for this bird. People say this plane builds nose heavy and the .90 is on the heavy side. What do you guys think? Right now everything is a possibility. Thanks!

The power envelope for this model is fairly open as Stiks seem to thrive on power. Mine started out with trike gear and a ST.61, then ASP75, and then I switched to a tail dragger arrangement so as to fit a Zenoah G20, and I love this combination. Moved both elevator and rudder servos to the rear to compensate for the extra weight of the gasser.

Yes I moved the battery, and elevator and rudder servos to teh rear with 4-40 rods, The 120 is heavy on it, but it will pull it straight up unlimited.

ST 90 will work fine, but you may have to use a three blade prop to keep the diameter small enough for ground clearance. Mine had a ST 75, same weight (very close) as the 90, and I had to add a little tail weight, but the plane didn't care. Great combo.

I have the Super Tigre G90 on my Big Stick. I use a 13 x 4 prop. Unlimited vertical! Mine is a tailer dragger with the landing gear being
Dubro Super Strength Landing Gear .35-.61. Plenty of clearance.

Thanks

Hello all!
Thanks for your help. After reading these last few posts, I sent off an email to my old flying buddy to see if I can pick up the ST .90. But for now, I’m going to start drawing up the templates so I can start cutting out parts. I haven’t placed my order with tower yet. I’m waiting to make sure I can get the ST.90 first. Although I see that tower is now sold out of that engine at this time. So for now it’s “Where’s my pencil!” Thanks again.

Pity you are so far away as I have a very nice ST.75 outfitted with new bearings and Frank Bowman ring, same footprint as the .90 and just a wee bit different in power that needs a good home.

Thanks for the offer. The guy with the ST .90 only lives about 10 min. away, so it’s a little closer than Jamaica. But we’ll see what happens, you never know. I might be giving you a call. Thanks again.

I already know what the guys at the field are going to say. “Hey dumb nut. Your wing is on upside down!” Should be good fun. Just for clarification, is that 3 deg. each wing for a total of 6 degs. overall or 3 degs total? Also, thanks for the landing gear recommendation. I saw this on tower and thought it might be a close enough match. Thanks again.
Bob
Did you ever get an answer on the 3 or 6 degrees of anhedral?
How is the project coming along. Love to see and hear about your results.
Thanks

OK! Just think of it! A Bud Noson big stick, 105-6 wingspan with a BME 102 tween! Man, would that be a hover plane or what! ';

LomcevocThanks for your interest. No, I never got an answer from Ed about the anhedral. But I think he is still active here on RCU and I could most likely get a quick answer just by sending him a PM. As far as the Stik goes, health issues along with life in general, keep getting in my way. I have cut most of the fuse parts, but now waiting for new blades for my saw. They seem to break just by looking at them. I will get this thing built even if it kills me, as I have nothing else to fly! Sold my last plane so I could buy a new radio. Stay tuned. It may take some time, but this thing is going to happen. Soon I hope! Thanks!

Understand, I read back thru his earlier posts and it does say 3 degrees "Per" wing so I guess it is 6 degrees total.
I have an old crashed 40 size stik that I want to resurrect and try this wing trick along with the wing tip mod.
Too many planes and not enough time!

LOL... l understand! I have a time with both. When l was in Hot Springs Arkansas, we had 400 arks, to fly on. Had bad wends coming for five dafrent was. (TREE LINES, ROADS, ETC) Now l live in Little Rock Ark, and fly off the side of a landfill. Where in a bowl of around ten arks, saw grass and pine trees that is open on the landfill side and if it's not the wind or the smell or the trees, it's a hole on one of the runway that sucks your plane into the grown! AKA (WENDSHERE) you have to slip it in or just fly 3D. 3D is a lot of fun, BUT! That kills planes too! LOL......... Have Fun!...... :-)

LomcevocFrom the photos that Ed posted I would have guessed at 3 degs for each wing. Thanks for verifying that. I plan on putting in some build time on the Stik today. We’ll see how much I can get done.ThanksBob

I need help! l have an (OLD) Air Hobbies 105cc,6.4 Tween that I have in a Hanger 9 330, I also have installed air ducks to flow air over the heads and blowing it out the bottom. l have one head that is running around 180-187* and the other is running around 280-287*, I don't get it?? the spark plugs are sticking out the top of the cowl and l could be lousing air there BUT! ln my thinking, both heads would be running the same temp? Can someone give me an ideal what I could do?

How about this guys, during a build and covering of a Tower Hobbies Kaos 60 kit i was given a wing from a GP Big Stik. 40 and in the one picture you can see the wing. What i done is i scratch built a fuse for the wing but here is the catch, i put the wing on the bottom and gave it trike retracts. So im using a wing from a forty size Big Stik and a custom scratch built fuse so does this mean that it is still a big stik? Im really stuck on what to call this plane when im done.
