another astro hog build
Hi;
I will be building the SIG astro hog this winter, i amsearching the forums reading reviews and now i decided to starta blog where i can directly learn and discuss things with people around the world.
This is going to be thethird build. first i had built a Jamara Bonanza, the plane was OK but apperently my piloting skills were not enough and the other was Spearhead Jr. which i didn't like flying and gave to somebody else.
My first impressions about the kitare it is nicely packed, requires too much cutting jobas the parts are mostly not laser cut. The stock landing gear is for a tricycle.spars are laminated balsa,a small plywood wing joiner is inserted by cutting a slot on the root rib you can not make sure good contact with the spar.
Anyway i have some modifications in mind which i want to take your comments.
The manual says that the original dihedral is reduced to half in the kit i am not sure to reduce another halflooks lovely with the dihedral.
The engine i'll use is OS 55 because i have it. i hope it will be adequate.I may
I'll make it a tail dragger with the LG on the wings, but build a provisionto install a LG under the fuse.
Also i will try to make a pocket hor the dihedral brace to make sure good contact with the spar.
I'll be installing two Hitec HS-82 servos for the ailerons.
Futaba 3152 for the rudder and elevator,
I won't be tapping the engine mount, it will be hard for me to access the engine mounting bolts.
Most parts areready to start building.

RE: another astro hog build
Mine has about 3 degrees of dihedral under each wing panel. That's just about right, imo.
It could tolerate a little more, though, without any problems.
If you reduce the dihedral too much, the aeroplane will fly very badly.
