My Top-Flite P51-D Mustang Build - 1/7th Scale Kit
I started this build last December, I'm getting close to completion now. I'll post the pictures from the start to where I am now and it's maiden flight what I'm hoping will be in January.

Andy it's built just like the 1/5 scale plane which I have, looks like your doing a pretty good job on it. What you useing for power. I want to see the finish of this one, I really like the mustang.

Hi Leroy,
Thanks, it's taking some time but it will be worth it in the end. I've bought the 4-stroke OS FS-95V with a 15x8 prop to try and give it a more realistic noise. Yours looks awsum from the pic, can't beat a mustang . What you got powering yours?

Andy mine has a DLE 55cc in it, your 4 stroke will sound good in yours. I spent 5 yrs. building mine and I'm afraid to even fly it. Being an old guy I'm not sure I could keep up with 120 MPH which it is capable of, 90 MPH is even fast for me. Yours will get it on also. these are fast planes and my paint job is very slick reducing alot of drag.
Hope you don't mind, I thought you might enjoy some pictures of it.

Thanks for the pics, can see it properly. Looks good mate, you can tell there has been a lot of time and effort put in. Cockpit looks really good. I'm thinking the exact same thing myself I'm really not going to want to fly it that often the amount of time and effort that's gone into it. That engine of yours will have some power behind it. How did you do your machine guns? Did you set the plastic into the wood? Looks good and seem less from what I can see in your pic.

Thanks for the advice, i never even thought about doing that to be honest, great idea and like you say it looks more realistic. I didnt want that plastic bit sittin inder the covering as toop-flite say to do so that fixes the proplem completely. Is the canopy slide system something you made up with the i-beans and tubing or is it something you buy as a canopy slide? im defently going to use that idea to. Anymore hint and tips would be much appriceated. Thanks again.

The plane has been on the backburner this past year but nearly finished. Just got to fit the engine, canopy and painted parts. I should have it finished in the next couple of weeks then have its maden flight in march once the weather gets better. Hope you like it. Andy

Looking good Andy! I would like to point out at no time did you say which Christmas it would be finished! I have a TF 182 I started about the same time you did that has experienced the same problems with being on the back burner. I did get the fixed rear section of the wing completed over the weekend along with the flaps hinged and the luggage door installed.

Haha I suppose your right there Mike, glad the end is insight and looking forward to get it in the air. It's the first model I built from scratch and I didn't quiet realise how much work was involved. I don't think I'll build one from scratch for a long time but I'm glad I've done it and I can keep it as my good model for those perfect days. Have u got a post with your model? The best ones take time that's what I say

I haven't a thread on the 182 it has been a very on again/off again project. I started when my grandson was born and he just turned three! I have made some serious mistakes and it took some time to correct them and I have made a lot of modifications as I have go along. I hope I can get a few hours on it this weekend.
