I am going to maiden the 4 Star 54 tomorrow, pray for me. I will let you know how it goes. Today the flying was awesome, the wind was from the worst angle ever but there wasn't much of it thankfully.

Don't sweat it jeffie. If you can fly a trainer you can fly this plane.

I am more concerned about unforeseen mechanical difficulties.

Just go over everything Thrice!

I should have flown yesterday, today looks a bit windy out of the wrong direction. SW, I prefer E or NE to avoid a tree line. Maybe just finish up my Chipmunk, have to balance it and check the throws, setup the fuel line for filling and its ready to go.

Plane flew great. Would you believe not a single click of trim !
It was the most uneventful maiden flight ever. My OS46SF pulls the 4Star along great, lots of power. I think my Saito 62 is going to be fun on it too. Very light wing loading compared to my Escapades.

I finally did it! I hovered my LT-40! I switched to a MA 11X7 prop which is a little slower than the APC, but appears to have a bit more thrust to it. I got it in a vertical and actually saw it hang in the sky for at least 10 seconds while I worked rudder and elevator to keep it vertical until eventually the nose fell over. Coolest thing I have ever done with it.

Who says you cant 3D a trainer! LOL. I also got to brush up on my clockwise landings some more and got them nailed. What a fun plane.

One of these days when the kids are visiting someone else, and if the weather is nice I need to get my wife out to video it. I just dont have room for wife, kids and planes in the MKT. That is until I get my trailer setup.

Hey RD, welcome to the SIG Brotherhood!! Looks like you're gonna be a busy boy soon, restoring the Kadet, building the new wing, finishing the Kobra and building the Extra. Yo brother, gotcha listed here with #110.

Hey, if you're a-mind-to, we LOVE seeing builds here - feel free to chronicle your progress here on any, ALL of them.

The SIG Brotherhood, as I've got it today:

Hey ACDII & JEFFIE8696 - wanted to add my sincere congrats on your flights. Hovering a LT40 - truly impressive. One day I'll learn to do things like that - - maybe.

jeffie8696, didn't think you'd have much problems with the 4-Star. They're all great flying aircraft. Well done, my friend.

I found out yesterday it is much more difficult when the winds are strong up above. It pushed it around too much to stay in place, but my friend was watching and he couldn't believe it could hang in the air like that, even for a few seconds.

Can you believe? My buddy Dennis crashed his 1/4 scale Cub the other day so I felt sorry for him and gave him mine. He promised a few things. He will not use Futaba 3003 servos in the ailerons this time (oops), he will use bigger than a single 4.8 AA receiver pack (oops) and he will let me fly it whenever I want.

Actually a good steady breeze can sometimes help with a hover. Creep your big floater into the wind till it about stops, then put it into a high alpha and increase the throttle. I had a Kadet Sr with an FS90 that was pretty good with that.

Well today a cute gal in a brown uniform driving a brown truck stopped by. Besides having a pretty smile she brought me my SIG Mini Sport. What a cute lil airplane. Looks like a mini version of the Astro Hog. As I stated a week or so Im going to put a OS .10 on it and bash it into a Mini Bipe. My 10 year old grand daughter told me that it has to be pink. So the fuse will be white and the wings and tail feathers will be pink with purple pin stripes. Looks like the Ultra Sport 2-25 build will be postponed for a few days. .

the

I built many Seniors, I always reduced the dihedral and added flaps and ailerons on them. Most also had wing struts. 3 of them were night flyers. Why so many? Somebody would come along and want to buy it from me

I always use a 6 or 7 pitch prop on aerobats and trainers -- if the prop gets too large i go to a 3 or 4 blade .

Great, Now try an inverted flat-spin with a 2 meter glider on the Kadet's back (Space Shuttle Style) talk about an adrenalin rush. Totally accidental

I was chasing my friends P-39 last night, until his engine quit. I was turning inside of him, out climbing him, and doing things his can't. The only thing he has me on is all out speed.

On Monday did some flying, and had the engine quit while landing, unfortunately, the engine quit while trying to do a go around as I had come in too high, and the ground being bumpy, bounced the plane twice, then the engine quit, up and over the edge of the runway and disappeared. I didn't realize there was a deep ditch on the other side, I knew it was a bit lower at the edge, they keep the grass high to help stop you if you overshoot. All I heard was a big crunch. Dreading the worst, I put my radio down, walked to the edge, discovered how deep it was, climbed down and found it. It had landing flat, just the nose cone hitting dirt. Not a mark on it. Talk about lucky!!
