Thank you Dave, very pleased to be in.
My interest in SIG started while living in Iowa on a day I decided to take a weird shortcut from Ottumwa to Iowa City. As I was driving through Montezuma I noticed the SIG sign outside a building so I made a U-turn to check it out. Big surprise when I realized I was standing in front of the very factory that made that brand of planes I had seen in magazines ever since I could remember.
I didn't even know how involved I had already been with SIG at the time. I had helped a friend repair his Kadet (a few times) back in the mid 90's, and had even purchased and built a Somethin' Extra kit years later without giving much thought to the brand. Being a sucker for nostalgia I went back to visit the factory, purchased a few models and later attended their annual fly-in. We had a wonderful time, made some friends and came back once more -before moving to Florida.
It's easy to get hooked on a brand once you have a chance to meet the folks behind it and get treated by them like an old friend.
Regards,
Julian

I can relate Julian. I became involved with SIG a few years ago fixing carbs for Bob. I even got to represent them during an open house in Indiana once. I don't get there as often as I would like any more since I moved back to Muscatine from Iowa City. I did manage to get a couple flights with my 4Star60 today in Iowa City. I installed an Enya 60x on it yesterday because the Super Tigre 61 was getting a little weak on compression. I miss my 4Star20 and my 40 and cant wait to fly my 4Star120.

i just got back from a trip and it involved a three hour horse back ride in the mountains. It was almost more fun then flying. I just wish i was not so allergic to horses or I would have a couple too. Had to take so much allergy medicine I slept like a baby that night.
So i guss i will just keep flying planes. Have you worked in anything new i am still puttsing away on the sig cub.

Kind of wondering if there is a list of All the Sig planes. I didn't think I should be in another brotherhood, but looking through the basement, I am pretty sure I have some Sig stuff. Most recently, an Astro Hog. I was wondering if an OS AX .46 would be enough for it. It came with a brand new one, and they were rated from .45 size, back before I was born, and I think the AX is more powerful than an old .45. It seems tailheavy. I have other motors, but have had good luck with AXs. Oh, For the brotherhood thing. First one was a Zlin Akrobat control line back in the early 1970s. Still have the pieces, Sig Scamp with a few different motors, Wonder (my fave) Kavalier (not done yet after 20 years?) Astro Hog, I think I had a Sig Riser, and Kadet that I just sold about a year ago. I bet there was more that I forgot about. They were/are all good flyers when I got them that far.

That .46AX will fly the Astro Hog nicely - it just won't 3D or have unlimited vertical. I had a customer that flew his for 3 years with a Fox 45 and just loved it. The other club members were amazed that it flew so well with that "little" engine.

Of course there's a place with all the SIG planes - just pop over to https://wanderings-ds.jimdo.com/ and you'll see nearly every plane they've ever marketed. Can't claim all of them because I found out, quite awhile ago, that they had a period where they seemed to just print designs - no kits though. One of them is the very first in the FF section.
Shoot man, you've certainly got the history for being in the B'hood - we can do it if you want.
A Hog with .46AX should be just fine - but I'm no expert. There are a whole bunch of guys here that have or have had Hogs - hopefully they'll pop up too.

Just went over the list quick, wow, lots of planes there. I found two more that I did not know were Sig. The Herr Aquastars I have one electric, and one nitro. Neither take off water, and the remains of a Primary Force that was a gift. It had one flight, and the motor quit, and the wing was toast, so he gave it to me. It really flew nice considering there were no flaps. I should get on that Astro Hog, I think it will be good with the .46, I have a .55 AX and Supertiger .61s, but think the .46 will be good. If I use the floats, I can go to the .55.

I have been flying my 4Star60 ARF lately with an Enya 60X, its a good match but an unusual engine, it is a modern Schnerule ball bearing engine with an air bleed carb. Its super reliable and makes plenty of power to pull the 4Star with the correct prop combo. My Sump Extra ARF has an amazing YS45 two stroke and its just incredible.

What do you guys think. I have an OS Gemini 120 twin in need of a plane. Looking at the SIG Seagulls, there is the Edge 540 60, with the 4 stroke range of .91 to 1.00. Think the 1.20 would be too heavy for the plane to perform at it's peak? The YAK 54 seems like a good fit, Saito 125 is mentioned.
I want to step it up from the Somethin Extra. The OS was on a GP 10-300 Ultimate Bipe, but at the fly in this year, the engine quit right after takeoff with the plane going with the wind, so it didn't go very far without power. The throttle to barrel screw came loose and the barrel rotated fully closed when I throttled back.
Any other suggestions?

with the power you have i would go with edge 540. And that is just because that engine didn't seem to over power the bipe.
Also tje 540 is a great flying plane i have tje 120 version they don't have any more.

Being # 12 on the list this site has come a long ways. Sig has so many nice planes to build it's no wonder. I have built the 1/4 scale Spacewalker 11 and modified it some fuselage wise, all else is right off the plans. It's a great build and flying plane, surprised I don't see more of them.

I really enjoyed flying my Spacewalker II. It flew so well that I let 3 people fly mine on it's maiden flight.

Are there any build threads for the 1/4 scale spacewalker? I have an os 160 twin that needs a home. Was thinking about getting the GP giant super sportster but the SW is nice. The one piece wing could be a pain.

You can search Spacewalker 11 and find a list of the ones built here, one is, sig spacewalker 11 1/4 scale by Vincent J, mine was built on the end of his finish, it's powered with a DLE 35 RA engine. Great to build and a great flying plane.
