That IS a nice boat!!!

Close, but not quite. It's actually a "ground effect" aircraft that uses an airfoil with training wheel/air dams and stabilizers. The center section is actually an airfoil with the front 2/3rds having an approximate 5* AOA. The vertical surfaces on the inside faces of the pontoons(also called sponsons) are used as an "airtrap" to hold the air under the boat rather than letting it "spill" out the sides like it can from under the wingtips of some airplanes. As strange is this may seem, full sized and scale hydroplanes are designed more so for aerodynamic performance that they are for hydrodynamic performance
Are you referring to the full sized boats or the scale one pictured?

While that scoop is big enough, that's not how they get in the boats. The cockpit has a solid metal "firewall" at the back to protect the driver from engine detonations, water intrusion from flipping and collision damage. The canopy actually has a hinged section for access to the cockpit as can be seen below:

Very nice!! As far as color combination goes, I (me, the guy with no taste in colors) would go with all of it - the basic burgundy with gold & green edging on the dark red.
My Midstar-40 is of similar color - burgundy & gold. The contrast is distinctly lacking when she's in the air.

I have to stare at it for a while lol. I'll probably use the black AND gold with turquoise drop shadows and make some lettering- call it Plum Ugly or Berry Fuppeduck or something like that.... It's all covered and hinged, need to install control horns and servos next. I'm using carbon fiber control horns I cut out myself.

Hi guys, just wanted to give an update on my Smith Miniplane build.
Both wings are now completed, with minor adjustments such as reinforcement around the center spars
The fuse is largely done, my choice of engine and fuel tank installed, and the cowl is made and screwed on.
I am now starting to build the tail feathers.
here is what I want it to look like:

Sig Mustang 450
Hello Sig Brotherhood. My lovely Mustang 450 has unfortunately had small progress of recent. Although, I am confused as to where to place the aileron servo as I certainly don't want to just drill straight into the beautiful wing. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Aden.

The bipe's looking good so far, Corsair!! Nice work.
Aden, you've got a challenge there, no doubt. Only 2 others, here, have claimed the Mustang-450 but hopefully there are a few guys with ideas that might work. Personally, I'd cut into the wing, on top, and recess the servo as much as I could, leaving the bottom sheeting intact.

Unless I''m building a super scale project, I like to surface mount the wing's servos. It's easier, and the servos are easier to maintain. The aileron servos are barely visible in this pic of my Kadet Senior.
