Bucket List
My family and I were on vacation for a few weeks earlier this month visiting my daughter and son-in-law in Arkansas. Since it wasn't to far out of my way (457 miles) I swung by Sig, of course I couldn't leave empty handed!

I may have to stop by there during a road trip to the east coast next summer. Wife may not like it but, if I keep it short and don't go too crazy, I might get to bring a plane or two home

Geez, for me, building is half the fun.
And why wait until you retire?

[QUOTE=FlyerInOKC;12453074 Of course when I'm retired I;ll be too broke to buy airplane stuff and have to get a job. [/QUOTE]
For 10 years before I retired, I stocked up on the kits, engines, etc., that I wanted. I still have one kit left after 10 years.
Plan ahead. You'll be glad that you did.

Definitely a nice buy!!!
And, thanks to you, I've finally got a pic of the RC29-2 box. Thanks.

Hey guys, just thought I'd throw a quickie note here: got a couple more e-mails from Steve Kohlmann, son of Hank Kohlmann, with a few more historical tidbits on his dad's planes -
Also, not sure whether I'd ever put it out but I finally found a couple pics of the RC-11 Simco kit, which means there's only ONE kit that I have zero on - the RC-10 Simco (built-up wing version). Also added a note on the RC12 Simco.
Added notes on RC28, Mustang-450, about how SIG fuels came to have Klotz oil in it and why it's red.
Added notes on RC Kwik-Bilt page about a proposed KB-7 kit (AT-6) that never came to be.
Added note on CL-16 about how the kit came to be.
Added note on RC-12 about who's in the photo.

adding door/window to Sig 1/4 scale J3 cub,
Hello fellow Sig J3 Cub builders. I'm looking for some idea's in hinging the door & window on the cub, the door is already built, haven't started the window yet, but will soon. I know I came to the right place to ask for some help & idea's. I'll try posting some pictures. I'll be adding floats to this plane, using Hanger9 struts & SeaPlaneSupply floats. I still have a lot of work to do.
Any help would be appreciated.
Need to best way to hing the door?

The 1/5th use these hinges

the inge is placed on the outer side so it is exposed at the joint, but the rest is buried in the upper and lower wood of the fuse and door. The window hinges are cut to fit in the upright part of the frame.

On my Sig 1/6 Cub - yes, the smallest one, I used very small Robart hinge points on the door, since those most closely resenble the arrangement on the full size polane, where a flat hinge is not used.
There is simply a tab with a hole in the center welded to the door and fuselage frames. A bolt acts as the hinge pin.
For the window, I cut a mini Klett nylon hinge in half across its width and used one section at the front and the other at the rear. It was easy to cut an angled slot into both the window frame and the fuselage at an angle to slide in the hinge, with the pivot point remaining outside, in contact with the frame and fuselage.
As for your Cub, you may want to take another look at those cabin brace wires. You have what appears to be a bunch of wire wrapped around and soldered to them behind the forward bulkhead. That should be in front of the bulkhead. Being where your wrap is, the wing will not slide onto the wires up to the bulkhead.
When assembled, the forward wing dihedral brace, which is 1/4" plywood, fits flat against that bulkhead. That wire wrap will prevent a proper fit.

I'm glad you mentioned the window hinging, I'm waiting for some basswood so I can start working on the window. How is the window held up when open and attached to the wing? I don't have a full scale Cub I can go check out so easily, and it's not easy finding good photos on the net. I have photos I'm posting so you and others can see what I have done. I do enjoy it when other builders come in pointing out mistakes and ideas they might see in the photos, I take all information very seriously and I do appreciate it. If you or anyone else see anything that needs to be brought to my attention, please yet me know! I made the wing a 3 piece wing for transporting. I have photos of the wing build also, if anyone is interested in how I went about it. It takes a little more work, but is worth it.

Hello again to anyone that help me. I have missed place the windshield pattern to my Sig 1/4 scale J3 Cub that's on my plans. The plans have been cut up, so the section that has the windshield pattern on it is missing. If anyone has that section of the plans, I would be happy to pay for it, if you can mail it to me. I never throw any of my plans away until the plane is crashed and gone, but still it's missing. If anyone can help me, please let me know.
Thanks again. Gerry
Thanks again. Gerry

The instruction booklet has a half-windshield graphic on page 35. Check my site, https://wanderings-ds.jimdo.com/sig-rc-kits-41-60/ , kit RC48. Just download, print the page and go for it.
CORRECTION: All 3 of the last 3 pages - the entire windshield is there.
