The 64 is just the revised slightly 60. They needed to do that because the 4* arf's prior were faulty. I had one, wing failed in flight. Get the 4*60 kit and enjoy.

I have the 60, but it's an ARF. it was crashed and I am bashing it a bit, but I can't do the tail the way I want it because it's already all glued up, I would have to take it all apart, so I wanted the 64 as a kit because it's tail is different and I could easily build the tail end of the fuselage the way I want it, oh well

The Four Star 64 ARF is based off of the Four Star 60 kit with one rib bay clipped off of each tip and some structural changes for ease of manufacture. In other words you can make a 64 by leaving a rib bay off of each wing tip of the kit.

edited: the 64 has different tail feathers (they are smaller than the 60's tail feathers) (unless they sent me the wrong feathers), IF you don't believe me I can post pics tomorrow because I bought the 64's tail feathers for my 60, but when I ordered them I was not told they were smaller, also, the front of the 64"s rudder where it mounts to the former is taller ( <that makes me think that they did send me the correct 64 tail feathers), so I have to increase the former's size, no biggy there..
as I said, I want to buy a 64 as a kit because "I want to bash the trailing end of the fuselage" but I wont do that to my 60 because I would have to use a pint of de-bonder to take it apart,
to add, another reason why I wanted to buy the 64 (as a kit), is that the 64's tail feathers are also thinner than the 60's

When you are building from a kit there is nothing to keep you from modifying the tail surfaces to the larger specs of the 64. That is one of the neat parts of building a kit, you can change anything you want. The thickness of the stab doesn't affect the flying character a bit.

BTW, again, it is the fuselage I want to change, not the tail feathers

Hey Bob! How are you doing these days? Anything new down the pipeline from SIG regarding new or re-releasing of kits? I know you guys are pretty much done with Toledo, but would be nice to keep us SIG fans updated.

Hi fellas. My name is Raudel Sánchez and i'm from Havana. Cuba. I may not have a SIG kit per say, but if it counts, i recently finished a Hog Bipe i scratch built using the kit plans. I did made some "cosmetic" changes like changing "a little" the tail feathers, the head rest and made the fuse a little wider. For the next project I would like to find a set of plans -could be the kit ones- of the gorgeous SIG Smith Miniplane, or i may reduce the Hog-Bipe plans for a 40 engine. Check the link to know more about the Hog-Bipe build process.

Merry Christmas to ya all!
Best regards.
Raudel.

I'm still here doing my thing answering phone calls and e mails, printing plans, working on broken tooling and other tech problems in the kit department. In my spare time I've been working on a possible new control line stunt kit. Because of the fire in the saw room they are updating some of the wood working equipment and should be cutting wood again shortly. We had quite a bit of cut wood stock piled so it should not effect our order fill rate of wood in general.

A question has been running around elsewhere, does SIG do one off laser cutting?

Thanks Mike.
Believe it or not, she's not covered with monokote or something of the sort, but with self adhesive vinyl. We don't have any type of hobby stores in Cuba and therefore we have to get creative very often.
I want to share some old /low res pics i found, of the building process.
Does anyone knows where i can find a decent set of plans of the SIG Smith Miniplane?

We can but due to the industrial nature of our equipment we require a minimum quantity of 10 of each piece. The drawings must be submitted as a cad DXF drawing and then to convert it to machine language the charge is $50 an hour. It is not as simple as sending a rough drawing and expecting a finished part in return.

Bob, sadly in Cuba doesn't exists credit cards and we also are not allowed to send money orders elsewhere. Remember, even when they say it, we don't live in a democracy. So ordering would be something out of the question and that's with or without Obama's relationship with Cuba.. To build my Hog-Bipe I had to give the money to a friend who travelled to US so he could buy the stuff i needed and then hope and pray he would return to Cuba.

Mike, already got them!! You see, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, thanks to people like you guys. I'll later check the plans and select the one I'll build from. One question though. I saw that one of them is for a very large model. If I downsize it, would it altere the flying caracteristicsc? I import them into Corel Draw and can scale them to any size I want.
