In regard to the King Kobra...
Thanks for your interest! The scarfed tips on the airplane are sort of an homage to one of my favorite planes - the Curare - an R/C Pattern plane from 1976, by Hanno Prettner. Mr. Prettner changed the way pattern was flown, forever , and the design of all the airplanes that followed.

More info...
Really like your uniformity of colors across the board for all the subjects of your air force; thinking about doing the same for a few models. Really cool checkerboard undersides and switching to a conventional-gear like jet on the King Kobra too.
Wondering about the unique, scarfed wing and stab tips on the KK; is this a mod used to avoid high speed flutter on aileron/elevator? Did you have to lower the tank to accommodate the inverted engine? Also wondering if the Sig Primary Force is a one-off kit - I know it was once offered as an ARF but was wondering if you could elaborate on the Mike Pratt short kit...

I am in the process of building a 4*20 and plan on using a Satio .30 4 stroke in it. I am trying to place the fuel tank and wondered if anyone here has build a glow powered 4*20. I have a 4 oz tank but having some challenges figuring out the support for it and general placement. In this view it is inserted thru the opening in the F2 because I think if it goes forward more I will have problems getting the fuel lines thru the firewall hole.
I know 4 strokes drink less fuel than a typical 2 stoke. Is it practical to use a 2 oz tank instead?
Just looking for some ideas and suggestions.
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks for the comments guys. It will probably be better with the lines coming out higher as the carb is above the current hole in the firewall. I will have to mount the engine up and see what my options are. We are in the deep freeze here in Michigan for a while so I won't be able to test run the engine for a while. Might have to put this on the back burner for a while.

You will most likely need to lower the engine to get the carburetor low enough to match the center line of the tank.
And mount the tank as high as you can. I have done this with mine. Also 4oz tank is plenty of fuel
but i like to fly longer periods then most so 2oz isn’t enough.
Oh and I believe a 2 oz weight in the tail.

a 4oz tank is plenty. Just have the tank as high as you can get. But you will have to lower the engine so the center line of the carb is in line with the center lime of the tank.

You can mount the motor sideways instead of lowering it too. On another subject, would an AX .55 be enough power on an Astro Hog with or without floats? Mine came with an AX .46 and floats, but I put a .55 on just in case, as it pretty much fit anyway.

So you are in the neighborhood. But my favorite engine has be the Saito 91.

Sig Klipper
Was thinking of scanning the printed fuselage sides and other parts to make a set of plans. Has anyone already attempted this?
thanks

Nobody that I've ever head of has tried this, James. However, if you're successful and can make a pdf, and can get a copy of the wing planform in addition, I'd be all to happy to include them in the SIG History site. Klipper shows on page https://wanderings-ds.jimdo.com/sig-rc-kits-21-40/ , RC37.
I'm absolutely positive the guys would love some kind of plans for the Klipper.

That Klipper looks almost the same as the Skamp, OK, Scamp. I got one of those. Nice flyer, but you would need the foam wing which is not around any more Glancing over the list I saw a nice project there. The Relic. Also turns out that I have a swap meet deal downstairs on the list. Mustang 450. Wow, 1971. Now at least I know what it is. I saw the printing inside, and it looked like Sig printing.

Y'er right - a total recreation would need the foam wing, which may be procurable from a couple sources. However, a standard rib & spar wing COULD be recreated just having the outline of the wing itself.
Yeah, there are several rather good planes in this class, the Relic being one of the better ones, IMHO.

A stick, some .015" wire and a battery will get a hot wire, and you could cut one up too. Just needs joining as the original had the dihedral molded in. It was pretty thick, likely for strength.

I’ve gone over that list again. I, too, find the Relic interesting. Shouldn’t be to difficult a build. I’ve also studied the Komander indepth. I got all the info I need for it and almost started a scratch build. Maybe later. My problem is my grass runway. Not sure how a tri-gear would do on it. I’ve been building only taildraggers.
#3546
I always change my planes to tail draggers before building. I don't even like the wheels in the wing, better on the fuselage where things are stronger. I didn't notice the Relic was that foam wing. That would be a good victim for one of my AP .09s or .15s. I think I have one or two wings somewhere with a corner knocked off. Those wings were nice, kind of like the Ace 1/2A foam wings.

Balsworkbench already carries a short kit for $10. Probably no spars as it is a short kit. http://www.balsaworkbench.com/?page_id=2601 See who is cheaper I guess? Sounds fairly reasonable to me, although here there is a dollar exchange and a border gestapo. Apparently Lazer Works can make up a Scamp short kit, or wing kit for a bit more than the Ace one. Well a fair bit more. $28. http://lazer-works.com/misc.html it is under Scamp about 3/4 of the way down the page.

Just wrap your 4 oz tank in foam rubber and stuff it in
smaller pieces of foam can adjust the position & lock the tank in.
If you invert the 4 stroke make sure not to flood the engine on first start up
