Don't be jealous but I have the very last Little Extra ever sold by SIG. They found it during an inventory, it was a pre production sample and doesn't even have any graphics on the box. I want to build it and fly it but if I do I risk crashing it and destroying it.

But, that's me, and I'm flying planes that I originally built in the late 1960's and early 1970's - every weekend.
Y'can have a great conversation piece in a box, or you can have a great airplane in the air. I choose to fly, but that's me.

I have plenty of flyable planes right now and quite a few in the works including 2 four star 20s. I had a Little Extra years ago and it only got a few flights on it before a radio issue(DX6i) doomed it.

That's the simple risk we all take, every day, with our planes. Shoot, if it were me, I'd build it and fly it every chance I had - and if something happened "not so nice" I'd rebuild it and fly it some more.

I have to finish what I got started, right now thats a SIG Cub, TF Corsair and P-51, then I have a Citabria on the shelf, and maybe get another 1/5th Cub and second wing kit and start bashing it to make a Biper Cub. Sitting elsewhere is my 1/7th scale P-61 kit. I also have plans for a B-25, though I may upscale it a bit to accommodate the Evolution 7-77 radials, provided they can put out the right amount of power with a 3 blade prop.
Just a few projects down the road, along with a group build Pica P-40 copy, and possibly 1/8th B-17.

It was darn near a "movement" this morning, as the Kadet leaped into the air, on her maiden voyage.
The Kadet doesn't require much runway when it's powered by a 91 four stroke. My test pilot stuck with it, and got the Kadet trimmed out, but wanted to land immediately after doing so.
I took the sticks and flew the rest of the flight, including the landing. By varying the throttle, I could tell that the model needed down thrust. I also discovered that the 13X8 prop wouldn't let the model slow down.
I took the Kadet home, and added down thrust. I changed to a prop with less pitch, and I tighted up the wheel pants, which were working themselves loose,
I'd call the day a success. The Kadet flies well, and is quite responsive to control input.
She's ready for another go, tomorrow. I can already see that I am going to like my Senior Sport.

Hey Tom, sounds like a good maiden to me - she came home in one piece and is ready to go again tomorrow. Definitely a good day.
Congrats, my friend.

Tom in our club there have been SO many Seniors over the years..They are a source of teasing at times since they fly so easy.. so some find fault with them ! It can be a lot of fun to just lazy around the sky on a quiet moment..

I learned to fly on the senior back in the 80's. I think it had a 40fp engine on it. Later on I
built another and put in a 52 four stroke. They seem to fly real good with a smaller engine. I'm
the kinda guy who likes to fly off the wing anyway. I have a kit on the shelf for later that's
gonna get the same 52 fs.

This is only the 3rd Kadet Senior that I've seen at our field. Aside from me (A dyed in the wool Hawkeye), I don't see many Sig airframes around here.
It's a shame, too. Sig products are high quality.
I have several smaller engines that would have been suitable for the Kadet. I like to fly on the wing, too, but ballast may have been required. As is, with the .91 up front, I have the battery mounted by the fuel tank.

My .91 is way too much power. I switched to a 16X6 prop, which helps.
In today's swift breeze,I almost had her flying backwards. I got in two more flights this morning. I'm liking the Kadet Sport more and more.
I may switch to an OS .52 4 stroke. Does anyone fly this combo, and, if so, how do you like it ?

I fly the OS 52 in my LT-40. Has plenty of power for the 40. I run it with an 11x6 prop right now, makes it interesting in the verticals. I lost some top end, but can do more with it now.

Tom,
The 52 four stroke is my favorite for the Kadet Sr. I think it
will serve you well in the Sport model as well.

Thanks, Cubby.
I want to play with the current combo a little more, but in the end I think that I will switch to the smaller 4 stroke.
I'm glad that you, and acdii like your .52s. I haven't run mine, so I have no idea what to expect.

I have a Saito 100 in my P-51, one of the nicest running engines I have, and will snap them up from now on when I find them. I thought the OS engines were good, until I got the Saito.

I have the Saito 62 on my 4Star54 and it works well but its a bit of a shaker. Only so much you can do when you blow out the displacement that much on a small case. But it pulls the 4Star along really well. Using a 12X7 Pro Zinger, hope to get a tach reading tomorrow after a few more tanks of SIG 15% Champion. I am almost up to a gallon so far.
