For 60 years I've been building from the inside-out, and I find it rather fascinating to be watching a plane being built from the outside-in. Of course, my planes are dinosaurs compared to what's being put out today - but I built them, not a factory worker.

Still it was a lotta fun to watch.

I did see that one a couple times, pretty neat, then saw the prices. Still would rather build one myself, though there are some that you can't get kits for, or plans, like the T-Clips, so got the ARF and LOVE it!

Old kits are out there, new kits however, not many companies left, SIG, Top Flite, Bridi, Balsa USA, and I think GP has a couple. Not much selection either, not like there used to be.


I got back to my Cub this afternoon, swapped out the OS 70 for a Saito 100 GK. I yanked it off my P-51, installed the new 125 I got on it, pulled the 70 off the cub and put it on the GP P-51 Sport, and mounted the 100 on the Cub.

There is the perfect size 3D plane for what I have sitting on my shelf in the way of power. Either the Christen Eagle or the Extra 300 which is like the 330 I have in my trailer.

Yeah, you're not the only one. I'm not a ARF kind of guy and even I'm looking at that Sparrow Hawk. The entire collection is very nice, no doubt about it. I'm glad to see that it's SIG doing the import too, a very good sign for them (and us).

Who knows? I might just be looking at my first ARF here.

Considering how SIG is with their stuff, it should be pretty good. I'm not an ARF person either, prefer to build, however there are exceptions to that rule. I am building a Top Flite P-51 and putting a lot of work into it, but since I never flew a warbird before, I got the TF ARF of the same plane, and am flying and crashing that one instead of the one all the work went into, so I will know how to fly it without crashing it. (crashed the ARF on the 4th flight due to dumb thumb). I also had a gift card for Hobby Town and they had a deal on a sport P-51.

I took a chance on the SIG T-Clips, and am so glad I did. Great flying plane and well made.

Hello. I'd like to join this group! Please add me. Great information and I have enjoyed reading the posts. I have not built a kit in over 25 years - but I recently received a Sig Senior, factory fresh new in the box just waiting to be glued, sanded and crafted into creation. I was so glad that Sig has continued to make this classic beauty available. Back in the day, there were limited technology options of course. 72 MHz and either an AM or FM radio, and only one radio per model! If you were financially well endowed, you probably owned a few matched sets! Failure to use a channel flag on the tip of your long aluminum antenna, would quickly get you ex-communicated from the RC community! Anyway, I have much to learn about the modern day RC flight technologies - but when something is as timeless as the Sig Senior, all the latest and greatest technologies become somewhat irrelevant. Nonetheless, thanks to everyone here. The information in this thread will be invaluable as I get up to speed with what's new and improved. The one thing that really can't be improved is the Senior!

Geez, 72Mhz, AM or FM, you're describing me - - TOTALLY!! Hey, doesn't matter - all SIG fans are totally welcome here, no matter what their technology level. And yes, I still have a couple of those old 72Mhz radios with the twin-color ribbons, don't use them anymore though.

Welcome to RCU my friend, the SIG Brotherhood, the SIG Kadet Brotherhood, and all us "more seasoned" folk, as Flyer would put it. Gotcha all logged in with both Brotherhoods - SIG B'hood #136, SIG Kadet B'hood #168. And you're right - the Kadet truly IS one of the greats in the RC world.

Now, one more item:

Zor! My friend, you've been around here longer than I have - and you keep asserting that you don't qualify because you don't have a Kadet yet. Nonsense, and I'm calling you on it.

I'm making an "executive decision" and doing what I should have done a long long time ago. Your SIG B'hoodnumber is 137, SIG Kadet B'hood number is 169 - - and that's an end to the argument. As I've said for a long time, all fans of SIG & the Kadet's are welcome here, and you most certainly DO qualify.

I dumb thumbed my T-Clips on take off yesterday. Not enough speed and stalled the right wing. DOH, spun it around in the beans. Luckily only damage was the top of the right window frame broke loose from F2. I shot some CA in it, gave it a few minutes to cure, put the wing back on and made sure I had enough speed before lifting off. Flew it 20 minutes after that, and everyone loved this plane. It is nose heavy which is making taking off and landing a bit tricky. It pitches forward a bit when the tail comes up, and bounces when landing, even when coming in nice and smooth, so going to fit the cowl finally and re-balance. Been avoiding putting any weight in the tail until now, have not added a single piece of lead to it until now.

Going to do a proper repair to where it cracked by pinning the joint with some glue and dowel.
