Just curious what made you decide to install the engine horizontally.

Tank is too high for inverted. I put this one on as an after thought, the OS70 was setup the same way as per the manual. To drop the tank would have require way too much work and I did not want to damage anything since the plane was nearly completed. It was either mount it like this or spend another $70-80 for a regulator, and I have way too many other things that need that money for. It would have looked a lot better inverted, but then I would have to baffle the cowl and have a huge opening underneath, this was much cleaner, and once I put the dummy motor on, will look almost scale. I might just make a fake one for the left side that matches the right side, make it look like a twin.

Hi Guys,
I been a SIG fan for years... I have an old Cessna 150 Kiwk Bilt kit building now. I also have the clipped wing cub, Cessna 172 kwik bilt, Beech Bonanza kwik bilt still in the boxes and a Sumtin Extra down for repairs. How do I get on the list?

I'm starting to think you could be a Kwik-Bilt fan! I don't remember the Bonanza as being in the Kwik-Built series but it could be my CRS kicking in. What are the specs on these kits any change you will do a building thread?

OK Brotherhood, the SIG 1/5th Cub is DONE! yeah, I may have said it was done earlier, but I still had detailing and an engine run up to do. So Saturday I ran up the engine in 40* weather, took a bit to get started, but she fired up, and when I hit the throttle the plane moves to the left on the stand. Gots a wee bit o torque in that motor.

Brought it downstairs, cleaned it up and took the wings off to store, since weather was too foggy for a maiden, though temps and wind were good. White plane in fog, not a good combination. Then as it sat on my bench it needed something, so I grabbed the box, and dumped it out looking for the decals, well didn't find them in that box, but did find the dash, so the instrument panel is in place. Found the decals in the second wing kit I bought, applied the Cub to the tail and looked at it some more, still needed something, so off I went and put all the decals on, the left motor, painted it, and made up a new NC tail number with my AMA number.

DONE!







Pretty cool the AMA number is 6789

Hey Mike, glad to be on board. I am definately a Kwik-built fan. The Cessna 150 is the oldest one that I have. I got it about 24yrs ago, bought for me as a Christmas gift from my then girlfreind(now wife!). The others have come along in the past years from Ebay, and at one point I had two Bonanza kits as one came without plans. Right now, I have the 150 on the bench and so far I've joined the wings. The instruction book is almost turning to dust on this kit so I think I need to move it along. I'll do the bonanza after I get through my BT Kawanishi build which is sidelined for the Cessna. I am not sure if I'll do a building thread on the Bonanza as I am the slowest builder ever, but since I'm in the " SIG brotherhood" I could post some pics. On the Bonanza there is a place that is selling wing cores and stab cores too! The original kit doesn't show a foam core stab though. I will send some info on the kit as soon as I can... working at night has me at a disadvantage.

Hey Mike, here are the specs on the Bonanza kit. Honestly I wish they would bring out another Bonanza kit with the V-tail and conventional tail options, Topflite has one, but the SIG would be better!

I have to say I love the Bonanza too and wouldn't mind building one some day. I remember seeing them at the local A/P all the time when I was a kid. At some point I hope to be able to afford one of the SIG Bonanza kits if I can find it or as a second choice one the TF Bonanza or Arrow II kits floating around.

Thanks Dave. Hoping to have at least one decent day to fly it, but not looking good for the near future. Trying to decide on my next winter project still. I usually build on Tuesday nights at my Friends barn, but everything I have in process is something I work on in my shop now since they are at the assembly stage or require a lot of tinkering. I do have a SIG Citabria still wrapped.

I know what you mean. I just got back from a rather cold afternoon at the field - 48 degrees (9c). Took 2 planes (Kadet Mk-II & CG Sr. Falcon), each got 8 flights. By the time I got home I needed a hot water bottle, settled for a glass of peach brandy (which is sitting here next to me right now). Shoot, if it's not raining or winds over 15 mph, I'm likely to be flying.

My wife just says I'm that dumb - too stupid to come out of the cold.

She's probably right.

Yeah, I'm still playing with those SIG Stratus plans, scaling it down to .40-size. Once that's all done I'll get a couple copies and then start cutting wood. Really do want to see that in the air this next summer, if at all possible.

Only thing that kept me from flying it last weekend was visibility, so foggy that a white plane wold disappear! LOL
