You may be right. I'd like to see one with a translucent scheme, similar to the ARF. There's always dope and silk, and Solartex has translucent colors, too.

That kit could be completed with ceconite and acrylic / latex paint real reasonable.. I bet I could do it for 125 bucks...

Whatever happened to the guy that was building a Rascal ultralight plane? Its been a couple years since I thought of that. I think it was on rc groups maybe?

The Rascal Ultrlight thread is still active, over on RCG.

Hobbyking covering is very similar to Ultracote, which is what is used on most high end ARF planes. Its about a 3rd the cost of ultracote. Im going to build it with both so I can have translucent wings.

Hi Brothers, Pre-ordered the new Sig Rascal 80 from Sig Planes, advertised available for delivery 6\1. Have yet to receive it, or any notifications concerning it. As I also purchased, and received about a month ago, a new OS GGT10 to try with this plane, guess I'm just a little anxious at this time. Was wondering concerning personal experiences with Sig Planes, or if anyone else has already received theirs. Many Thanx

I really don't think you've got much to worry about. SIGPlanes has been around for quite awhile and they've got a good reputation. Might be an idea to call them Monday though. Y'never know.

I doubt that there is anything to worry about. As Dave says, give Sig Planes a call on Monday, for an update on your order.

Hello Mike,

We have been unable to contact you via email as the email address we have on file keeps bouncing back. The new SIG Rascal 80s are expected to arrive in Montezuma, Iowa this week and should ship next week. Just be aware many of the SIG employees are tied-up preparing for the SIG Fly-In event this weekend, so some shipments may be delayed a day or two. Hang tight...you will have your Rascal 80 shortly!

Thanks, Mike!

OR come out to the fly in and pick it up maybe? For those attending, see you there, and bring plenty of water, going to be HOT this weekend, and I don't mean the flying. Upper 90's predicted.

Hopefully I will have this maidened before then and have it ready to fly at the field.

Thanx to all and in particular to SigPlanes for your responses. Will be patient and hopeful that the GGT10 will be enuf for the Rascal, but if not, got plenty of other choices.
Thanx again

To have a Sig rep posting here in the forum is what I call going above and beyond. I've had things I've ordered that I had to do the legwork to track down as the company "didn't have the time". Needless to say, I've not done business with those companies since.

Is Sig Planes a marketer, or a division of Sig ? I had the idea that they are a separate entity.

Good question. I know they are tight with SIG.

Pretty sure SIGPlanes is their own entity. But, they ARE very tight with SIG - and that's a GOOD thing.

They appear to be unaffiliated except as a prime dealer of SIG Mfg. products. A quote from their website "SIGPlanes.com began as a group of SIG enthusiasts determined to share the excitement, experience, and story of SIG Manufacturing Airplanes with today's R/C pilots and modelers.".

Don't worry about the GGT10 having enough power, just hope it will idle slow enough to land. We flew the prototype with an electric equivalent of a .46 glow and it was plenty of power if you are not trying to 3D the airplane. I have no doubt that it will fly well with the average .40 glow.

I think doing 3D with a 14' span plane would be pretty awesome.

Already have one, on the bench. Tail is covered, the rest is waiting to be covered as soon as I figure out the radio setup.

I would be tempted if I wasn't out of work right now. Things are pretty slow so finding a new job has been a chore and half. I blame the election it has everyone on edge.

Except they contract with the big hauling companies with crews going from city to city and state to state.
