Sig Bonanza Cowl Help please. Fellow RC brotherhood, I am trying to help an older friend /member of my RC club who has asked me to find him a Cowl for the Sig Bonnanaz.
He does not have access to the Internet and I thought the task would be easy.
I have scoured the SIg website, eBay and almost every combination of Google search but all I can come up with is Herr engineering and this is the SIG kit version of the Bonanza.
Can anyone help please I will be buying it for him as a gift.
He is a very good fellow Church going member that would walk a mile to help you find your plane in the corn.
The gentlemen helps everyone in the club that he can, maintains the lawn equipment and is always fixing things.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I know that the wing is in 3 peices but i was trying to poke at you guys a little. I just hope I don't stick it the first time out. I would like to put the FG90 in it but have considered a DA 70. Because with my rep. I don't need the extra help in that department. Sometimes I would like to just fly around

Snicker, Tom, his nick isnt C Crunch for nothing! I do believe he won the Something Extra for having the most spectacular crashes at the flyin this year.

The were a couple of awesome fun fly pilots in the club and as a new pilot i was trying to be like them with newbe skills

Well if crash something like thisand end up with a pile like this
you just have a chance. By the way all planes were excellent flyers i just got silly. To low to slow and down wind maybe inverted two.
The sundacer really Hurt that was the best flying plane i have had in a long time. I do have a second the the late Mike Gretz sold me but I don't have hart to get it out yet. If you know what i mean?

Well it was rather windy there that weekend, and I do recall one of those bad takeoffs had engine issues and the wind pushed it off the runway. There were a lot of damaged canopies during the night too. Skylark, if you want one of those, you need to come to the flyin and crash all you have with you! I nearly lost my Cub when the engine quit, missed a power line and tree by mere inches and settled it into the rough at the end of the runway. Damn that was a long walk.

Ye gads guys! Naw, I think I'll keep my 40-yr old birds in just the shape they're in now (intact and operational) - thanks anyway.
Geez, 44!!!!!!!! The worst I've EVER done was lost one and "bent" one in the same weekend (the "bent" one was my Sr. Falcon, which has been back online for a long, long time). Of course, I rarely (read that "never") do inverted low-level flights over the field (or anywhere else) - I'm a rather conservative flyer (read that "I like to keep my birds flying").
c-crunch, that Sundancer was a beautiful bird. One day, I'm gonna come across one - and I won't be able to resist.

Good luck with the Sundancer it has been out of production for a long time now not to say there isn't one out there to be had. Like I said I do have a second and some day I will get it out and fly it. When I talked to Mike they had a hard time selling that plane, not because it was bad it's a bipe. According to Mike biplanes just don't sell.
I look back at the planes that year and I couldn't even tell you what most of them were. But I do remember I bought a lot of them from swap meets. Back when swap meets were more popular and the planes were junk that's why they were at the swap meet of course and built a few too. Good news, I did learn how to fly like the guys but still have a hard time flying like the guys to day ( what is Harrier anyways). I also don't get to fly as much as I did back then.

I guess it depends on the Bipe. The Ultimate Bipe is a wicked performer and very popular. The Liberty Sport, eh, not so much. My friend has one and its a PITA to fly, he is hoping its next crash is a total so he wont have to rebuild it. So far he hasn't been able to destroy it. I have a Ultimate 10 Dash 300 that I picked up, flew it once and liked it, but it needs work as all the glue joints are brittle. I had to fly it once to see if I liked it, I do, so it gets stripped and glued and recovered.

Hey Skylark-Flier (Dave W.) you want to assign gutmark a number? He has a Chipmunk C/L style!
Gutmark Welcome! You will probably come in around 166 if memory serves me correctly but Dave will know for sure he is the keeper of the list. Dave is retired so he checks in regularly.

Since it is plastic covering, I use a heat gun to soften the glue and then peel it off slowly at an acute angle. Once all the covering is off I use Acetone to remove the residue. If that doesn't work, then I try other types of thinners, like MEK, lacquer or enamel thinners, but acetone usually works well. I try to avoid sanding as much as possible since it can take out more wood where there is no covering and leave a rough surface.
