Thank you for the add. I am sure two .19's would probably be sufficient but I already have a matching set of .25's so this is probably what is going in it. Never under power

Absolutely, NEVER underpower. Yup, total agreement with that - and matched .25s are going to be awesome with that airframe. I'm hoping you throw in some pics of the build - really interested in how this all works out.

Gotta love a guy with a different idea, and here we are with 2 of them. Way back when, in the days before mufflers, I did exactly that with a pair of C/L Midwest P51s - she was a BEAST!!!! Had an awful lot of years of fun with that plane.

Well me and JR got the fuss framed up and mostly glued. WOW there are a lot of punching out of parts. We spent a couple hours punching out parts and then sending them and prepping them for installation. And thats just because of the size of plane this no 4*60. I did note one thing if someone would read this befor they build one, thats I think if you were to sand the router fuzzies off before you punch the parts. But assembly was pretty easy on the fuselage we had it together in just a few hours and glued up. We still have some odds and ends to glue into the fuselage like tail wheel bracket horizontal stab bracket and the nose section needs to be finished.

Amd i am not try to be that guy that says oh i had that idea to but i was just talking to A friend about a pair of astro hogs for the kit bash to a f-82.

What do guys know about mile high RC they sell what looks like a pretty handsome engine. DJ 85 and EME 120.

I bought my DLE20 PITTS muffler from them. Pretty decent transaction.

Just looked at their stuff, if I weren't so hung up on having 4 strokes on the Mitchell, those EME 35 with starters would be an attractive buy.

Either JR is really small or that plane is really big!!

I saw the Rascal 168 on its debut at the Toledo show last year. The wood was so nice, I would have been tempted to cover it with transparent covering.

hey guys I have the Sig mid star,i have a Saito 50 (not on anything at the moment) would that be ok or I had also in mind to buy a SaitoFS-72a or the 82 for that plane being that they only weigh .5 oz more than the O.S. 46 , I was thinking out loud of putting a three blade on the 72 or the 80 for ground clearance, would realy like some feedback from the Sig community, thanks

I ran an Escapade 40 with a Thunder Tiger 75 with a 3-blade and it flew nice, but not super powerful. The Saito 82 is a much better performer in my experience. The 3-blade did cut performance some, but gave the plane a nice feel. I would not put a 50 on that plane unless you intend to fly it as a trainer. The Saito 72 is the same size/weight as the 82 with better performance. The Saito 82 is a great engine, IMO.

I also have the Kadet LT-25, would the Saito FA-40a size engine be ok for that plane?

I absolutely love the LT-25 and I've done several things with it through modifications. The largest engine I've ever used on it was a 40 2-stroke and, I think, about at the max for weight considerations. Your FA-40 might be a tad too much metal. Power wise it would be fine.

Outside of weight, so it doesn't end up too nose heavy and make you add more weight to get it balanced, the LT would do great with a 427 hemi strapped to the front. Just my opinion!

I see you trained with Joe.

The FA-40 I believe is too big, not power wise, just in size. Something just a bit smaller in 4 stroke, about a 30 size would be the max to put on it. You could put the 40 on it, but as Tony pointed out, you would need to balance with tail weight. The downside is, if you dead stick, then you have a lead sled. The LT does float well, but the more it weighs, the faster it falls. If you are OK with that, then go for it.

Hello capt crunch. You are building the dynaflite super decathlon as i am you are a few hours a head of me.
I am having trouble with how to put the mounting holes for my dle 35ra engine so that the Shaft will come out the center of the cowl.
The 2 degree right thrusr of the firewall and the 5 degree down thrust Are a problem to me.
I figured out the 5 degree positioning from the plan view but how to locate the dle 35 ra for the 2 degrees has me confused.
Any one have the solution for me?
Trainermaster80 thanks
your build looks good so far. What engine are you planning

Trainer master 80
well I don't mean to contradict and right now it does look like a decathlon but it actually the rascal 168. With that aside i off set the engine a little on the firewall to compensate for the right and down Thrust that way the prop shaft comes out in the middle of the cowl.
As far as the engine goes for the 168 I haven't decided. I would like a saito fg-90r but wow. A 120cc would fly it like I think it should, but i am leaning towards the DJ 85 cc just because of the price.

And thanks for the article i am going try that.

Big Tee those pics of your planes are great! don't se me ever reaching that skill level, great engineering of those two are crazy good! but getting back to the LT-25 with the Saito 40,I did some checking and the Saito weighs 10.6 0z. total w/muffler, and the O.S. 25FX weighs 10.8 oz. w/muffler ,so I think I would be ok with weight, just concerned now about the size

Thanks and How Bout That!!................If the weights the same it's a non-issue..............go for it and enjoy!!

That's very cool how the fuse goes together with those wedges. I'll be interested to see how the rest goes.

I think we can do that for a T-Clips flyer. Welcome brother, to the SIG Brotherhood!!! Got #175 all set for you.

Speaking of brotherhoods, I did a major search of RCU some time back. It's amazing just how many, and how diverse, there are. Link to the list: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/ques...therhoods.html . Post #22 is the most up-to-date.

Anyway, here's our SIG Brotherhood, as I've got us today:

Wow, 95, thought she was closer to 80. Looking good for her age.

Well guys its been a busy couple of weeks at work and JR. and I have not had much time to put in to the rascal. How ever i have had a lot of bench flying with a few frends. I think we are going to try a new covering called doculem. The DJ 85. For the engine. Now we are trying to decide on what kind of servos to use. I have a couple of old 1/4 scale servos that are big and clunky but still work good and a few hi torque hitec and jr servos. Now for the question what do you guys think about what servos to use.
