Default Anyone build the SIG 4 Star 20 yet?

I have one in process and would love to have some feedback. Mine will be powered by an OS26Surpass.

Hi Jeffie--

I built one a couple of years ago to fly in the winter and powered by one of the Electrify outrunner motors. i am not a big electric guy but wanted something I could drag out at a moments notice and get a couple of flights in. I have build three 4* 60 and one 40 size prior so this was no big surprise. Of all the 4*'s though, the 60 has been the easiest to build. My 20 flies fine, though not as well as the 60 size. Maybe the battery is making is heavy. The 26 FS you are planning to use should be perfect.

Good luck an post some pics. I'll try and get somw pics of mine posted.

Greg

I am kicking myself for not taking photos the other day but it isn't in the covering stage yet so not much to see. Going with a PT19 scheme. Wow, has it been out for a few years already? I can remember when it was in prototype sitting on Bobs workbench at Sig.

Here are a couple of photos of mine. I went to a three blade prop because I was a little short on ground clearance with the 12-6 I started with. and I think i looks cool. I haven't flown with this prop yet. I chose yellow and grey because i had it.

I built one a couple years ago.
It was a nice build, like all Sig kits are. Seems like it's an exact copy of the 4-Star 40.
Mine flies very well on a RC Timer BC3536-8 1000Kv motor and 2200mAh 3 cell battery.
I thought it looked a bit like a Me 109, so I modified the rudder and added Major Decals.
I think it weighed 44 oz. and it uses a 11x7E prop.

I understand it is a very straightforward build and a good choice for a first kit build.

Very nice! Mines not even close to that far done. I have sanding issues and no time to do anything done.

Sorry to hear that, looks like it will come in at or under 2.5lbs. Perfect for the OS26Surpass.

Jeffie--plane looks great. I really like the PT 19 color scheme and have used it on some of my planes. We are having horrible weather here, so no flying for who know how long. I see you are in Muscatine, IA. I used to travel there to visit Stanely Consultants back in my traveling days. Nice town. You're weather is probably just as bad--or maybe worse.

I just need to finish it up , tail wheel, main wheels, receiver, battery, settings and adjustments. I live a few blocks from the Stanley building, my(Russian) wife is involved with them internationally.

I am using this plane to test out the new Tactic TSX20 servos. They seem like a perfect match, half the size and weight of a standard servo with the same torque.

Photo showing my 4 Star 20 next to to my 4 Star 54. Not much difference in size but the 4 Star 20 will come in at 2.5lbs flying weight.

All servos are the same, the new Tactic TSX20, very smooth and light(half weight) with the same torque as a standard size servo.
