List above edited, welcome new brothers.
Mike, are you any relation to dirty Harry?
Karp, nice selection you have there, how does the taube fly, it looks like it would need to be fairly still to be able to fly that.

Luckily we had begun to load our trailer and wasn't under the canopy when the P-38 lost an engine on takeoff. The gentleman reimbursed me for the plane, but I would rather have had the plane back. It flew great.

Real airplanes don't have a tailwheel, only a skid.

LOL!

Some years back I told the girl working the car rental counter at San Fran airport that
I was in town to visit my uncle Harry. She didn't get the joke.

Bob, I found a picture of your BUSA PUP. (post 62) If I recall Solartex and Zenoah G-26. Hand painted insignia etc, replica engine, and even wood wheel chocks. Looks great and flies the same.

Please add me to the list!

My first plane, early 80's, was a Swizzle Stick 40 and the second was a Tempo II. I've found both kits and they are in my build que.

Mangolo, a lot of the names in the kitbuilding section are familiar to me, yours isn't.
We'll need to see pics of your planes.

Unfortunately the kit is in the old style BUSA kit boxes. Just a plain cardboard box with the kit name stamped on the end flap. The instructions are just type pages so no pictures to show other than what can be found using google. I'll try to get the plans copied sometime soon.

But for those that are unfamiliar with this kit. The Tempo II (have no idea what the Tempo I was) is a 3ch parasol design that used the Swizzle stick wing. Unlike the Swizzle stick, the fuse is a full build up. Basically a Parasol Phaeton but the nose uses standard slab sides fared into the spinner instead of a cowl. Sort of like a GP Sporster. Upright engine of .35-.45 size. a hatch on the bottom provides access to the radio gear. It was touted as a second trainer if I recall.

When I built mine I modified the wing for ailerons and used a piped Enya .45 . This was before the Super Swizzle stick so when I build my new one I'm thinking I'll use the Super wing. I also saw a pic one time of a Tempo with wheel pants and I really liked the look so I'm going to do that as well.

Thanks for adding me to the list.
Mike

Ok I'm in for the brotherhood with a current on the bench building an Eindecker 90, with a Citabria Pro next in line and an SE5a sitting on the topshelf. Just need to find another few more hours in the day to make some decent progress

Hi ashby, welcome to RCU, your first post!
As with any other request to the brotherhood, if you are not a regular contributer to the kitbuilding forum I would like a pic or two.
All BUSA kit owners are welcome, we'd love to see your Eindecker.
BTW where are you from?

G'day ashby, another aussie! I still have to apply the same rules, but your spot at #62 is reserved for you.
You're probably only 12 hour drive away
I actually had a bloke buy a Se5 from me once, he told me he was coming from north NSW and I never expected him to turn up, but he did.

3136, no worries always happy to abide by the rules and will post photos when I am back home.
Yes been known to haggle $50 dollars over a plane then spend a few hundred to drive and collect. You don't have to be crazy but is sure helps

Here is one some of you may not recognize, it is a Balsa USA Super Stick with a Supertiger 60 on it. The picture was taken in 1984. Easy as heck to build and a blast to fly. It had hundreds of flights on it before it was finally re-kitted.

Now thats vintage. Especially the red metal tool/flight box. Can you even buy a metal tool box like that anymore? Lol.

Have not had any experience with either. But I did purchase a dummy engine for my Eindecker 90 from Fiberglass Specialties. You might want to check them out.

I built a Stick many moons ago. It had wing tip and rudder nav lights, pull-pull rudder, different foil and wing tip extensions for thermaling. I'd take it up, shut the engine down then hunt for lift. I flew 45 minutes without power once. I just laid down on the ground and flew around. Unfortunately I folded the 'extended' wing version doing stupid stuff. It sounded like a shotgun blast when the wing did fold!

G'day Granpooba, I had a look at Fiberglass Specialties web site and they do not mention a dummy engine, cowl and cheeks was all I could find?
