' I just e-mailed Proctor about a DVII kit. He said that he builds each kit after its ordered and it takes about 10 weeks to get one done. But boy oh boy they are the cream of the crop!'

When that D-VII shows up on your doorstep have a dolly handy or risk getting a hernia! Those AWESOME kits are packed full of goodies and weigh the proverbial tonne! You won't be disappointed!!!!! I think the BalsaUSA kit is a great practice kit before building the Proctor. The BUSA DVIIs I've seen fly very well and the kit I have and have inspected thoroughly is very nice regarding outlines, wood, fittings, et al. I'm going to use GTM lozenge fabric on it and the Proctor!

I've got a Procter Albatross kit, and to be honest, I'd never fly it. Not that it isn't airworthy, or structurally sound, but it would be a crime to cover up all those details. I'm not by any means a master builder, and when another club member expressed an interest in building it, I passed it on to him. So I expect in a year or two, (Or maybe more) he'll have it framed up and ready for detail work.

Jim, if you're considering a 1/3 D6, this guy:

http://www.camdencustomcutters.com/

has plans and parts. I don't know who's plans, the last time I talked to him we were rushed. But drop him a line or give him a call... Roger Marshall is his name and he's a great one to chat with.

It just sucks that Glenn is functionally out of the airplane business for now.

Oh, and I was one of 'those guys' with the 1/3 scale Weiss D-8's at the airshow. My first build from plans/laser cut parts and apparently I didn't screw it up too bad.....

A D6? I did not see one of those. Are you sure you did not mean D8?

It may have been Glenn Torrence himself. I believe he was at MAD.

I don't think he has it listed on the site yet. Best results are from a phone call.

Spadsriver, I have a G38 reduction on my 1/3 Pup.. and it works well on there. I am not sure you will be thrilled with it on a 1/3 Fokker D7... I am someone that doesn't mind flying slow and scale. But I think you might be a bit underpowered for anything other than flying the pattern..... Keep it as light as possible if you go that route. I hope it works out whatever route you go..have you seen the videos of the 1/3 D7 with the G62 reduction? that has major power to play, and will also slow down and fly scale...

Thank you for the info about the engine. What weight did your Pup come in at?
I got a little more done today.

My Pup is heavy as I covered with ceconite and painted.. I have shock absorbing gear and heavy wheels... Its right around 40 pounds. Many of the reviews I read about this plane said they handled in the wind better if heavier. So I admit I didn't even try to keep it light.
Where I live we have a pretty high wind average in the summers.

The Pup if built without some major mods is really not a plane to get to crazy with. Your D7 however will fly so much more agile you might want that option..

By the way I am jealous..I really wish my Pup was a D7 sometimes

I sure love that DVII wing! Maybe one day I will build a 1/3rd scale.

TXAG96, no biggie, I do not really need one, just alway curious about possible products that may be available. I have 2 G38's just sitting there and a couple of G62's

I'm working on my modified BUSA 1/3 scale Pup. I decided to make my own instrument bezels and I am heavily detailing the cockpit. Here are a couple of pictures:

I turned them out of aluminum. I made the compass bezel out of brass.

I also designed all of the gauge faces. I have to add the needles to them as well.

This is my throttle quadrant and fuel shut off that I made for the Pup/

Andy,

That work is simply beautiful. Would you be willing to take photos of the process and equipment used?

Thanks MRadu,

I started a thread and I have been posting pictures as I go. Right now I am turning the compass housing out of aluminum and I recently upgraded my mini lathe mounting board so I haven't done much for the last week or so. Here is the link. I have lots of pictures there. It pretty much outlines the whole process: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-s...pwith-pup.html

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Nice work!!! Too bad they won't be out there on the market. If you're interested in selling an extra one, please let me know.

Ok, late as usual. I would like to be part of the Balsa USA Brotherhood. I have a 1/6 scale Nieuport 17, still in the box and waiting. I plan on powering it with a Saito .62 Four stroke. I will search this thread once this plane gets on the Build Board.
