Here is an example of the rust paint on the exhaust of my 1/4 Fokker DVII. It is just thin ABS plastic, but everyone who sees it swears it is made out of metal.

Vertical Grimmace that is awesome work. I like that iron paint, I'll have to remember that when I do the exhaust pipes on my SE5A.

Another technique that you can use for weathering is to pour thinner over a freshly painted area and allow it to run down the side of the area to create streaks like water stains on rusty metal.

Jeeze, just found this. I need a number, Am flying 1/3 and 1/4 N 28s , a 1/4 SE 5a and am building a 1/6 N28. Had a 1/4 Cub but sold it a few years ago.

You can always practice on test pieces and such as well. I actually refinished an older plane, just to try some new weathering, finish techniques, I wanted to apply to a new competition model.

Hi Rich,
Well that was the plan, but the glue and balsa dust started flying and before I thought about grabbing the camera wings
and things were piling up beside the workbench!! You can't beat Balsa USA directions as it has been smooth sailing!

Hey Rick, I see you finally got to post on the thread. As you can see, I have already assigned you a number, #100. Now you can post some pictures of your airplanes. I enjoyed our talks on the phone, I have been going back, looking at my pictures from Dayton this year, I think have a picture of you guys. Your canopy was setup about 3 down from us and we did see you take the fall at your trailer. I didn't realize you were hurt.

I do not have a build thread. My BUSA models are 1/3 Cub(built in 1992) 1/3 Fokker DVII( I flew in Dayton, that was my trailer that attacked Rick) and a Albatros
I plan to build a 1/3 BUSA Stearman next winter
