I want to say a few years back it came in at about 23 or so. A little extra where I put a receiver and battery in the top wing so there were no wires to run.

Thanks Jason, I have not weighed mine yet, but I don't think it will over 20 lbs.

Thanks

This is a 1/3 scale Tripe, painted in Josef Jacobs colors from mid 1918, the cowl is all painted now and ready to go. Planned on going flyin on Sat with the Fond du lac boys to fly my 1/3 Camel and Tripe but it looks as though "MOTHER NATURE" has other ideas. ENE wind which is pretty much 90 Deg cross wind, blowin 15 - 20 with 30 mph gusts and a 70 % chance of rain. I would say that's perfect weather to test fly two WWI planes. Ill let you all know how it goes. LOL I think maybe ill just fly a kite.

Thank you very much, beautiful planes. Which Saito twin do you have in your Cub? I have a 130t in my Spacewalker.

Hope to see you at Rhinebeck in Sept.

best regards,

Richard

The Cub actually has a single cylinder OS 120. The second owner before me loved to build dummy engines and so made a duplicate cylinder on the left side (seen in the float photo) to match the real one on the right side (seen in the wheeled photo). He had a 1/3 scale Cub at one time with an opposed twin and made two more dummy cylinders so that it looked like a four cylinder.

I had hoped to make it to Rhinebeck this year with my brother from Michigan but it doesn't look like we'll make it.

Yoda, if you are serious about building a big (very large) Eindecker I would find a set of Bob Holman plans for a quarter scale EIII designed by Dana Lockwood in the early eighties.......they show wing warping and have a scale outline......It would look awesome in half scale. Several years ago I did one in 1/3 scale and it flew great.

I know its not BUSA stuff ...... just my $0.02 worth.

Out of my 4 balsa USA kits this is my favorite and my pride and joy. 1/4 scale pup. A lot of hard work but pays off in looks and flight.

Jason, very nice Pup. I love my 1/4 scale Pup, I fly it more than any of my other airplanes. After last weekend, I have some repairs to make, cross wind take off.

Hi--Count me in on the brotherhood. I have a smoothie on the workbench. I got the wing and most of the fuselage built when I lived in Germany. I started this build 30 years ago, so I have been away from modeling for awhile. I've made several moves since then, but amazilgly I still have all the pieces. The plans are a little faded, but I think they will be OK. Now that I'm semi-retired, I'm trying to get back into it. I had another smoothie before this one and really liked the way it flew.

mbnt, I have had several Smoothies in my early years, also when I was stationed at Bittberg AB Germany. With a K & B 40, it was a great flyer, I modified to look like a P 40 and another a racer. Please post some pictures of your work, we would like to see your Smoothie. Welcome to the brotherhood, there are many folks who can help you, all you have to do is ask.
It would be helpful for me if all BUSA Brothers would post their BUSA Brotherhood number in their signature. If I have missed anyone please let me know.

BALSA USA 20% OFF YOUR NEXT ORDER

I received this coupon in a Pilot's drawing last year at the IOK Dawn Patrol (Indiana, Ohio & Kentucky) last May. I have been bogged down on my half scale Nieuport 11 project and have not used it yet.
The event was last May 23 & 24 and the certificate expires one year from that date.

If anyone in the Brotherhood is considering a purchase from BUSA and would like to have it let me know and I will mail it to you free of charge.

Remember! It must be used in the next two weeks.

Cheers,
Art

The IOK Dawn Patrol is just two weeks away. I will be attending again this year and will be flying my 1/3 scale DR1.
There will be a lot of Balsa USA planes flying at this event.

It is in the Cincinnati, Ohio area and is a very nice flying facility. If you're close to this area, come and join us. Primitive camping is allowed free of charge on site.

Love to join you Art but alas it's not to be this year, too much to do to get this old house ready to list, hopefully I'll be much closer next time around.

It's official! The discount certificate is definitely not available. The original claimant declined because of the limited time frame for use and the second in line stepped up to the winner's circle!

Congrats FOODSTICK!

Hey Rich.......I've got a big favor to ask. My friend Lance aka foodstick has neglected to ask for his BUSA Brotherhood #. I know that he frequents this thread regularly and I also know that he builds and flies BUSA kits. His big pup and also his 1/4 scale N-11 that he uses for a camera plane are a couple of them. Well, he feels that he doesn't qualify for the discount certificate that I am sending to him because he doesn't have a number - to me he IS a BUSA Brother, so could you issue him an official Balsa USA Brotherhood # and make him legit?!

Thanks ever so much!

Can Do, Art. I have read Lance's comments on several threads and he is a brother. Lance if you would post some pictures of your BUSA planes so we all can admire them. Let us know what kit you decided to get with the discount certificate. You are now a Balsa USA Brother, Welcome!

It would be helpful for me if all BUSA Brothers would post their BUSA Brotherhood number in their signature. If I have missed anyone please let me know.

So my L-4 got mid-aired at Castle and I'm trying to order another kit but can't get to the BUSA website. All I get is the solid blue intro screen with no available selections. Anybody else try to get to the website in the last couple days?
