Hi there PT19, I used Aluminium flashing from the hardware store, it comes in a roll and it's pretty thin. It's easily cut with scissors. For the burnishing I patiently put a bit of sandpaper on my thumb and ground it in, then moved to the next one. It took a couple of hours from memory.
I glued it on with contact cement. There is a pic of it in the first post of the thread.

I wish I could make it to that Arkansas event, but that's a really long trip for me, have fun guys!

I posted this question somewhere else, but its gone dry. I need the CG point for the 1/3scale DRI. I somehow lost the section of the plans that has the CG marked on them. I know its marked on the top wing section of the plans, I just can't find the plans. I really need to clean my work shop. Thanks.

jeffEE

I just checked my plans and the CG is 4 1/2 inches (plus or minus 1/4 inch) back from the TOP wing leading edge.

Cheers,
Art

ps just got back from the IOK Dawn Patrol (Indiana, Ohio & Kentucky). I flew my 1/3 DR1 Thursday, Friday & Saturday and I have no idea where the CG actually is on mine. Mine is powered with a GT80 turning a Xoar 28x6 laminated paddle blade scale prop and flies absolutely GREAT! The servos are under the pilot and the battery is next to the tank and no ballast was required.
This has been my No. 1 plane for the past two seasons and so far this season.

I have a Fokker DVII in third scale almost ready to fly - from what I hear it should be a very good flyer, too.

4.5 inches. A good place to start. Thanks. And if your 1/3 scale DVII is anything like my 1/4 scale DVII, you are going to have a blast!

jeffEE - That's exactly what I am hearing except it flies better than the quarter scale!

Rich - I don't have any pictures of the assembled airframe - just pieces and parts. When I get back from Hammer Field and then get the scale Nats in my rear view, then I can get the DVII assembled, balanced and ready for it's maiden flight ....maybe then I can get some pictures and hopefully a video, too.

Take care, Rich.....and tell Dallas we said hey.

Hi my names Michael, I have been through this sight so many times Sorta makes me feel like I just walked into the country club Barged in without an invite, To boot didn't even wear a dress jacket! May I please have a bowl of soup? to? I am just finishing up my first BALAUSA 1/3 scale FokkerDII For the build that is, and have already started ms second their 1/3 scale pup very partial kit I got, missing almost half Including cowel, formers all hardware much more but I'm getting there. prior to this I built a 28% curtiss jenny from absolute scratch plans and all You can see that one on R.C. Groups under Curtiss Jenny with machine gun some how it got listed under 1/4 scale but its not 12' wing span. I am considering doing a buid thread for the balance of the pup (soon as I learn how to do that right) Anyway heres some picks of theDII and the so far pup Hope I am worthy I can and need to learn alot from all you seasoned vets Thanks

I read Michael's comments on another thread about his Fokker D VII. Beautiful work as the pictures attest. So you are welcomed into the Balsa USA Brotherhood. I hope you do a construction thread on the Pup and maybe some pictures of the D VII build.

Again Welcome!

It would be helpful for me if all BUSA Brothers would post their BUSA Brotherhood number in their signature. If I have missed anyone please let me know.

M. Casper, welcome to the brotherhood. And your DVII is...fantastic! On the 23rd of July there is a nice event called Warbirds over Iowa in Cedar Rapids. Haul that beautiful bird to the event, and bring lots of paper towels for all the drool that gets on the DVII. Even if its not ready to fly. And even better if it is! I bet you could find 20 or 30 pilots that would love to fly it for a lap or two. Anyway, welcome.

jeffEE, Thanks I looked in on your Models as well I most certainly loved em! Smart choice of colors on your DVII's You have a good eye! I've never been to a show, wished I could go. but I can't afford it I'm partially wheel chaired (for now) And I don't have a vehicle to hall such a big bird. How temptingly painfull! So close yet so far.., Brotherhood #126

Outstanding work there Michael, if you had the backdrop in the photo right it would easily look like a full scale, you wouldn't know it was a model.
I hope someone gives you a lift to that event, it would be great to see her airborne next to similar models.
Can you elaborate some more on your D7? Like all the scale details, etc..

anybody in the Brotherhood interested in a small project? I just discovered the rudder on my BUSA 1/4 Nieuport 28c1 is warped and my travel schedule for the month is crazy. Wondering if anyone out there is interested in building a new one for me on a time & materials basis? I'm hopeful to make our July warbird event and the Brotherhood is my only hope.

If interested, send me a PM - cheers

Dunno what covering you have, if a shrink on type like solartex, have you tried warping it back into shape with an iron?

Great video Art. I love the early morning flights, next month we will have our 2nd Okie Dawn Patrol, July 8-9 '16, Guthrie, Okla. Last year we had 14 airplane taking off in the semi-dark , dawn had not broke yet. Too bad no one took a video, I did take a few pictures before I took off.

Great video! Airplane looks great too but I was surprised no cables on the landing gear and no step on the left side. OK. OK. I'm being anal on scale details but he is so close!

You're right. It was intended to be Fun Scale model with emphasis on the flying.....and it has more than succeeded!

If you really want to see those scale appointments, you could come up my way to Indiana, bring a little cash and add all the details you want. I am running out of storage room in the shop!

Thanks for the offer but I'm looking for a job right now.
