Jetset It would help if I had you first name. Your Enforcers work for me. These are the first I have seen, some of our guys fly foam board deltas. They are fast. It was be great if you could tells about yourself, to get to know you. If you need help, just we are here to help.

It would be helpful for me if all BUSA Brothers would post their BUSA Brotherhood number in their signature. If I have missed anyone please let me know.

Marksp, your Nieuport 28 is AWESOME I love World War I airplanes, this is one that I have not built. How about telling a little more about the airplane, engine and yourself. Also, would you like to join the Balsa USA Brotherhood? Great job on your build and airplane.

Hey guys, my name is Myles!
I must admit that the only BUSA models I have built are the Enforcers though some of the fine examples of the WW1 warbirds on here make me want to order one hehe!

I had read an article about the 1994 Flying Models magazine years ago, about converting the Enforcer to ducted fan. After I read that..I ordered the plan mod right away!
3 planes later, I still love flying them.
Thanks for adding me!

I joined about mid-build and am #124

1/4 scale Nieuport 28c1, Zenoah G26 (w/ignition) & B&B smoke muff. Tech-Aero IBEC, Spektrum AR7350 w/2 sats. Sullivan Skywriter Smoke pump. Hitec 5645MG on all control surfaces + throttle. Finished in Stitz aircraft covering w/rib stitching. Paint templates provided by Callie graphics. Weighs 13lbs dry and I suppose I add couple of lbs with fuel and smoke.

Looks great in the air and flys fantastic!

Cheers

So Mark and Jetset where are the photos? ;-)

BigStikFyer, Google TomCrump with RC Groups he posts a lot over there and works exclusively with Rattle can paint like Rustoleum. I have stocked up a little LusterKote fpor a project so I think I can finish it. My LHS has been talking about it been hard to get. He doesn't know if they are dropping it or if they stop making it do to transportation issues. So many things like spray can paint is getting pushed into the Hazmat category which unless you ship large amounts at once can make finding a carrier difficult. My son works at a grain elevator and hs to have a Hazmat endorsement to haul fertilizer now, pool chemicals are the same way.

I am building a 1/4 scale BUSA J3 Cub and have found that LustreKoat Cub Yellow has very little pigment and takes many many coats to cover, my solution was apply safety yellow first which is a brighter yellow and LustreKote cub yellow as final coat. This process might help others.

Thanks for the info FlyerInOKC. I'll definitely look up Tom Crump to see what he is saying about painting.

Bob, I paint some of my giant scale airplanes with latex paint. You can get just any color, I go to Lowes or home improvement store most of the time they can match any color with their computer. You can spray it on or use a brush. For your Cub you should use a fabric covering. Balsa USA has the best covering available Solartex. It comes in colors and it is easy to apply. It is fuel proof but it is recommended that you seal in with a Ploy coat. You need to check out their web site.

Here are a couple pictures of my 1/4 scale Cubs covered with Solartex. The yellow Cub I sold, the white Cub I use to mount a camera to take over head pictures.

I found with the Lusterkote Bright Yellow using a white primer first really helped. It is designed to go on light and not add excessive weight so multiple coats are a must.

I bought Solartex to cover my VK Models Fokker Triplane and will use either Rustoleum or Latex for the color and marking and then a satin cleacoat to make it fuel proof.

Hey John I got a number for you, Welcome! I would love to make a Rhinebeck event, I am a World War I buff. I love the airplanes, researching the history of the pilots and the color schemes of the aircraft. This was the first war that aircraft was major factor in the outcome. When you read through this thread you saw 3 of my WW I planes; British, French and German. I like to attend as many Dawn Patrol and War Bird events as I can. You meet some very interesting people and see some beautiful airplanes..

I have looked through forums for a BUSA Camel build, did find any on RCU and RCSB. If you don't have a lot of building experience it would be helpful if the did a construction thread. Then we can track your progress and provide any help or advise you may need. Taking pictures is the key of a good construction thread. you now have a lot of brothers who is ready to help.

Welcome to the Brotherhood, John.

It would be helpful for me if all BUSA Brothers would post their BUSA Brotherhood number in their signature. If I have missed anyone please let me know.

Sounds good John, I going to use a 20X6 prop on mine, probably a bit much but, the AGM 30 can handle it OK and I like lots of power.

Well, it was a good first flying season with the Balsa USA 1/3 scale Triplane. A few bumps and thumps along the way, but nothing too bad. It sure gathers a lot of attention at the field. And when people say that Balsa USA airplanes are not close enough to scale, just smile. Now its off to the build table.

Nice triplane JeffEE. You guys keep this up and I'll have to pull the 1/4 scale Cub out and build it.
Speaking of which, it's a BUSA Cub and the box says to use like a 1.20 four stroke or like a 20cc gas. I found an RCGF 20cc gas twin. Is this brand any good? Has anyone used one? I thought a twin on the cub would be nice.
Thanks Jay

Here's my rendition of BUSA Swizzle Stick 30. It's a start.
